Please make up your minds, folks:
Is this the best since Stones or since music was discovered?

Is it totally impossible to hear one single critical voice?
Who dares to step forward??

In my eyes this is a dude & a chick with many friends in NY
and east coast media business. Has the hiphop, hit list music
and sampled disco made you all so starving for rootsy music
you just lose your head as soon as one group appears on "rootsy stage"?

And please convince me, cause I still cant see the Big Deal -
the black rootsy world did this before. Whats new?

Baboon Bro, I agree there's nothing new. But I guess that's why people on this forum likes him. He is 31 years old, and he knows every lick Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Jimmi Page, Keith Richards ever played. Even Dick Taylor and The Pretty Things. Of course, he is not a copy, he plays his own stuff his own way, but when you hear Jack White plays the guitar you can hear what music he has been listening to. And he has been listening to the same music as us, that's why we like him I guess. But he is damn good at what he's doing.

I'm a slow liker, Kent. I go to their site and check this afternoon.
In my worlfd a rock band has at least three members.
I cant take these dudes serious, sorry.
At least not as much as some good folks here seem to do.
They just fill a vacuum.

I'm gonna switch on a nice Lazy Cowgirls-cd.

But, it showe; I actually had. And nothing special happened in me. Alas.
Fun band. Nice music.

They're from Detroit, and they made it big with something quite new and radical. In fact, they started an entire new music movement. Also, they made it big the old fashioned way: by playing a million club gigs. And, they aren't one-hit wonders, but they have released album after album of great songs, everytime exploring new roads. I guess the White Stripes are the most important new band since the days of Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains and Nirvana.

I know they are from Detroit. Thats a big plus in my book.
Deep deep respect for climbing upstairs the Long way.

Styill I come to think abot that 70s revival band
with Lizzy-tees and long hair, and that fruity singer
with a unbearable vibrato, I dont even rememeber their name any more,
but a couple of year ago all the people said this is the
Future Of Rock'n Roll...

What is the New Music Movements characteristica?
What new roads do they explore (examples?)

Links?

Listened more now.
Love his guitar. Drums ok.
His voice is too overloaded.
Like Jimbo Morrison with full speed all the time.

Interesting anyway; I will listen much more to them.

He's done a song with Loretta Lynn and is currently doing TV ads for coca-cola, cars and crap.

Seven nation Army is crap(except for the songs played on the radio). I cringed when I heard the rest of it. My wife laughed and said "What's this crap"? Believe me, I wanted to like it, but can't.

I tried hard not to like Jack White, because of this universal "grooviness". Everyone loves him; critics and fans trip all over each other trying to come up with new adjectives and superlatives to describe his music and show. But he is simply a force that is not to be denied. Personally I thunk his work with WS is much more powerful and original than the Raconteurs. And one more thing: I see mucg written about his guitar playing and his interpretation of the great old ones. But I would point out that on "Satan" he wrote a lot on piano and is very original and strong.
Jack White did a superb job producing Loretta Lynn; becoming her friend she says. He has been mentioned here in our utopian wishlists for a Stones producer who would not be afraid of J/R.

Great link Dirty Works. What I never knew (and find very cool) is that Jack has another mike set up nect to Meg; so they kepp eye contact when he is singing certain parts.
Damn, Meg is SO SEXY when she plays!

Your last line, Chelsea, I suspect is an important factor in their success.

Wll, Dw, serious, possibly, yes.. Sounds fine. And?
Comparing with Purple, Zepp'lin, Nirvana etc is still bizare.

When I compare with (ie) TSOOL this is just a music class off-lesson
rehearsal.

American rock hope since 80s in my book have been Pixies, Breeders,
Lenny Krawitz, Lazy Cowgirls (since yesterday, as I havent hears them much either), RH CHili Peppers, Nirvana and of course Metallica.
The latter may not add anything new, as is the case with R.E.M
which I also like.

You may not only look in the English-speaking world after the now rock Messiah's...
Its like the religious people looking withing their core:
but they wouldnt recognize JC or Muhammad if he stood right in front of'em...

I notice a generation gap on this very site.
They who didnt actually experience the 70s rock tend
to rise post-rootsy music very much.

I will keep on discovering these two groups. I like them.

Bro, usually the sex factor sells of course, but with WS honestly I think it doesn't even matter. Again, Jack White IMO is not to be denied. Onw way or another he was going to make his mark.

you underestimate her.
her and her ex husband have a telepathic, natural understanding/link.
he plays off her- she plays off him.
i guess you need to see them live, to appreciate this.

the WS have some catchy tunes and videos but i've never seen them live - i was always confused as to if they were siblings or lovers. maybe both.

i don't know his new band, i've been too busy in the last year obsessing over the stones, but in general like a lot of edgy new bands.

i saw both beacon shows. i don't think he added too much to the first show's version - he didn't distinguish himself enough. And in the 2nd, i heard a little twang in his voice which was kind of nice, almost like how keith used to sing. but just for a second. otherwise, i would rather have heard mick sing the whole thing since it's one of my favorite songs and i've never heard it live before these shows. as long as i get to hear it again live just with the stones, i'll forgive this one.
