RS tickets expensive... How much did you pay for your first concert ticket, year and who was it.

I remember my first concert in 1978. ALICE COOPER $7.50 at the Fresno Selland Arena. About 12000 seats and sold out.

I think the face for my first Stones show (Steel Wheels) was $35. The going rate for tickets for other shows (in theaters & arenas) at the time was $16-$20.

In 1975 saw the Rolling Stones in Philly at the Spectrum (holds 18-19000 seats)- my first concert ever (!!!!!). Tickets were $8.50, holy crap that was cheap! Those were the days. Of course since they were my first rock concert....I was a bit spoiled after that!

First concert (other than free ones at friend's shows like Joe Ely) was Stones 89' Oakland - 1st show, I was 13yo. I think they were $30 or so...caught AC/DC at the Cow Palace soon after...that was $22.50 I think.

I think I spent $18.50 or so to see the Stones at the Superdome in '78. My first ever show Was in '72 or '73 in Atlanta. Rod Stewart & The Faces backed up Three Dog Night at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. I bought tickets for my sister and myself to see the show and I was only 12 years old at the time! I don't remember how much the tickets were, but I remember I didn't have to break the piggy-bank to get them, even for a 12 y.o.

I can't remember the first...would've been Heart, Lynyrd Skynyred in 1977. Paid 7.50 to see ZZTop in 1978 and that was the most to date...1981 Stones $15.00.

First rock concert: Doobie Brothers ('76 or '77) Milwaukee Arena $7.50

First Stones concert(s): Steel Wheels at Alpine Valley - front row for 9/9 and 9/11/89 shows. $35 per ticket. I camped out (slept) on sidewalk in front of department store (Boston Store w/TicketMaster)with other Stones fans.

Most recent Stones concert: 10/11/06 at Soldier Field (Chicago). I won a radio contest on a Milwaukee Classic Rock station (WKLH). Priceless!!! (FREE)
The contest...I had to be the first to identify all 10 clips in order.

Go to the following link. Scroll down to the Stones montage and click LISTEN.

I paid $5.50 for the ticket, it was 1969, Nov 8th at the LA Forum. Forget the name of the band but the lead singer came out in an Uncle Sam top hat and wore all black with a white Leo symbol on his black, long sleeve t-shirt. Singing something about being "born in a cross fire hurricane" There was no fancy stage, fireworks, smoke, backround singers, or any other complicated bullsh*t, just pure Rock and Roll by the best band in the world (at that time) for almost 90 minutes. They came, they turned an 18,000 seat arena into a club,The singer slapped the floor with his giant belt as he sang about being the "Midnight Rambler"...and he MEANT it (the album wasn't even out yet but the song was the highlight of the show), there was no encore - just let us know STREET FIGHTING MAN was gonna be the last one, The singer threw red rose petals into the audience from big baskets, the song ended and they left....and it never happened again after 1969 turned into the 70's - a magical moment, GIMME SHELTER doesn't even do that tour justice, comes close....

Paid $13 for ticket to JFK in 1978.

Adjusting for US dollar inflation:

5.5 1969 dollars = $29.20 today
13 1978 dollars = $39.61 today
12 1975 dollars = $44.95 today
35 1989 dollars = $54.56 today

Not my first but a special one: 13, featuring Lester Butler in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, January 29th 1998. Price: free (birthday present) :-)
Got a chance to talk with him also. Very nice guy; to bad he's gone.

My first one was - as I recall correctly after all those concerts - U2 with B.B. King in Rotterdam in January 1990. Price: something like 40 gulden (wich is about $50.00)
