Keith Compilation

I'm making a mix CD of all of Keith's lead vocals for the Stones from the offically released stuff. Here's what I have, did I miss anything?

Connection
Happy
Coming Down Again
Before They Make Me Run
All About You
Little T&A
Wanna Hold You
Sleep Tonight
Too Rude
Can’t Be Seen
Slipping Away
The Worst
Thru And Thru
You Don’t Have To Mean It
Thief In The Night
How Can I Stop?
Losing My Touch
The Nearness Of You
Infamy
This Place Is Empty

I'm thinking of trying to make another CD with some bootleg stuff on it featuring songs that aren't on the first list. Any recommendations for Keith lead vocals from boots?

You Got the Silver

... and since you're including Connection, why not the other shared leads:
Something Happened to Me Yesterday
Salt of the Earth
Memory Motel
Feel On Baby
Anyway You Look at It

>> Any recommendations for Keith lead vocals from boots? <<

yeah, about 8 disks' worth ...

You Got the Silver ... can't believe I forgot that one. They just played it! Thanks. And good point about the other shared leads, I will include those as well.

Can you narrow it down to a top five or top ten? Give us a glimmer!

I know it must be pretty hard to choose out of all that material. Just put down the first thing that comes off your head.

actually i wonder why people (including me) count Connection
but not duets like Dear Doctor, Casino Boogie, Loving Cup, Sweethearts Together and so on ...

and are you counting Run Rudolph Run/The Harder They Come as official or bootleg or something else?

anyway some of the early bootleg stuff to start with:
1967: Sometimes Happy Sometimes Blue
1969: Gimmie Shelter
1971: the elusive Keith-LV Rip This Joint
1974: I Got a Letter
1977: everything from the Toronto sessions
1978: Your Angel Steps Out of Heaven, My Last Plea, early takes of BTMMR
78 or 79: Key to the Highway
1979: New Barbarian rehearsals/performances; We Had It All
79 or 80: early takes of Little T&A
1981: Over the Rainbow; and everything from the Longview Farm sessions
1983: Your Cheating Heart & Little Queenie (with Jerry Lee Lewis); and a lot of the so-called Honeymoon Tapes

disclaimer: there's tons of post-83 stuff that's utterly beautiful as well -
i'm just a chronological-order sort of sssoul.

Wow, that's only my favorite Stones song of all time! I didn't know a Keith LV version of that existed. Is it something you could post? Pretty please with sugar on top?

believe me, i'd love to (but hold the sugar, all right? sesame/ginger sauce will be fine)
but unfortunately it's not in circulation. all the Usual Sources agree that it exists,
but no one outside the band seems to have heard it. someday ... :E

CindyC, i was quoting ONNYA's question about the Keith LV rendition of Rip This Joint.

Hi - I guess I just don't know what LV is. Is it "long version"?

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

LV = lead vocal

HAHAHA - OK, now I feel like a complete moron!!!!

If Jagger50 has his head out of the sand, I think I will take his place.

Sure the One You Need off Ronnie's 1st has a LV

He sings a verse on Alexis Korner's version of Get Off My Cloud

Also: Key to the Highway on Johnnie Johnson's 1991 Johnnie B. Bad.

(Connection on BTB is NOT a Keith lead vocal--he sings WITH Mick. Something Happened to Me Yesterday has his solo vocal debut...)

yeah, there's about four more disks' worth of Keith-LV guest appearances,
but i didn't think that's what ONNYA was asking about.

Don't feel bad about it, I didn't know myself, untill know.
In fact, I've never written anything in threads where "LV" is mentioned....didn't want to look like a moron.

Oh good, well then I'm in good company! I don't get too embarrassed about asking questions though. If it's going to make someone think I'm dumb, well so be it, as long as I don't think it, that's what counts.

Have you heard an old interview of Keith and "Crackhouse Bob" (or something like that) from a Howard Stern Show?--It's not music, but it's a riot and I included it on my own Keith compilation---also an old recording of Keith doing "Cathy's Clown" acoustic--may be hard to find but I found them---off the wall stuff, but fun stuff

Ok, I've revised my list based upon everyone's feedback. Thanks everybody! I think for this CD I will strictly go for officially released Stones songs in which Keith is the lead vocalist and doesn't share the lead (cause that's about all that will fit on one CD):

You Got The Silver
Happy
Coming Down Again
Before They Make Me Run
All About You
Little T&A
Wanna Hold You
Sleep Tonight
Too Rude
Can’t Be Seen
Slipping Away
The Worst
Thru And Thru
You Don’t Have To Mean It
Thief In The Night
How Can I Stop?
Losing My Touch
The Nearness Of You
Infamy
This Place Is Empty
Hurricane

Connection from Keith's solo shows is certainly a Keith lead vocal, as is the many times he did it in 1995 as part of his two song set during the VDL tour.

They also did it one time as a duet at one of the Paradiso club shows in 1995.

"make up your mind, 'cause I gotta go"
