You're right. I've spent all the money that I have on all these Stones tours to increase my song count. You're so perceptive. Wow....I am amazed right now.

You never explained how I am one of those who say they can't hack certain songs any longer. How about you clarify that for me?

How many shows have you been to in your life Kenno?
I think there is a difference in appreciation if you've seen many shows in your life, then say 4 shows at the last two world tours.

A huge difference. I only got a little bored this tour after I've seen 50 shows. The only highlight I had this tour was "con le mie lacrime" .I was spoiled last tour.
I almost was like Kent till this tour

I've seen 3. B2B, Licks and ABB. One each.

FAH3: I never said that you said it. I said it's people LIKE you.

By saying it's people LIKE me you imply me. Seriously no harm no foul.

I believe barbabang has a point about the number of shows and the appreciation one has for the band. I've seen the boys 27 times: 2 VL, 6 B2B, 2 NS, 6 Licks, 11 ABB.

Halifax is only 2 hours from Moncton, where they held a show last year. And Halifax has 400,000 people. Its actually kind of surprising they never played the Canadian maritimes before the past year or 2.

Still, let's assume most of the people there never saw the stones before ;-)

Yes. He does have a point, but if they play like when I saw them this tour and that doesn't make them completely forget about the setlist, and just rock out, there's seriously something wrong I think.

What I am trying to say is that FAH3 had probably the same attidude as you after his third concert he saw. I'm trying to put it in perspective.

But there is nothing wrong with being enthousiastic offcourse!

Hey Bjornulf-- YCAGWYW was not played. It was on the plexiglass but towards the end of the show heavy winds started and it was dropped. Only 18 songs in the rain.

Yes yes. I got it the first time Barbabang. It's probably true too. But why on earth would one go to more concert if he knows he feels that way about setlists? That's the part I don't get. "I have this attitude, and I know how the Stones usually run a tour. I'll go". Why?

I agree with you in principle. I saw them at Giants Stadium in 2002 and the show was outstanding and it was the greatest hits setlist and I didn't care. What pissed me off at that show was the crowd which seemed dead to me. I was dumbfounded by that. -- they knew all of those songs.

My main point is that I don't have a problem with people ocmplaining about the setlists because it's their opinion. And I believe we all have a warhorse that we don't like as much as the others. For me that's IORR.

Suprisingly the highlight of the tour for me, other than Sway and Worried About You at MSG in January, was Back Of My Hand. It blew me away opening night in Boston and did every other time I heard it.

I know that a handful hard core fans got into their cars and drove from Moncton. A handful. That is not the point. The point is 99% of the 50,000 fans in Halifax last night had never seen the Stones live ever, and they got a great show with most of the famous songs plus also a few different ones. And for those who truely are worried about those few hundred who drove down from Moncton, they got six new songs vs. last year show i.e. 1/3 of the set list was replaced.

All Down The Line
Bitch
Brown Sugar x 2
Honky Tonk Women x 2
Infamy
It's Only Rock'n Roll x 2
Jumping Jack Flash x 2
Let's Spend The Night Together
Little T&A
Live With Me
Midnight Rambler
Miss You x 2
Monkey Man
Night Time Is The Right Time
Oh No Not You Again x 2
Paint It Black x 2
Rough Justice x 2
Ruby Tuesday
Satisfaction x 2
Start Me Up x 2
Streets Of Love
Sympathy For The Devil x 2
The Worst
Tumbling Dice x 2
You Can't Always Get What You Want
You Got The Silver

I think it is pretty ignorant and offending to speak on behalf of those who were in Halifax. You may say "I don't like this set list". But to use a headline saying "Halifax Setlist stinks" is like making a global statement and expecting everyone to agree on that. I don't agree on it. And I would advice everyone else who agree to come forward and state so. The set list was great for a Stones show and exactly what a new "virgin" crowd would be happy with, given they have hundreds of songs to choose from.

I have two rants about this tour:

1.- I would like as many ABB songs as possible, because it's a great album. But if they only wanna do 2, 3 or 4 a night that's also cool. Got 3 in Horsens and that was fine by me. The show rocked, and Rough Justice especially.

2.- I never got to see Back Of My Hand. There's still hope for me hearing it in Europe next year though.

I think most of us would agree that it was not a very intelligenty chosen header BV!

But is is nice for us as diehard fans to discuss setlists and their music.
And not only to say "great, they played Brown Sugar today!"

One of the big problem with the setlist discussions is that it's never the music (I.e. How they played it, and how it went) that's in the foregound here. It's always about why they played these songs, and not some other songs.
It is great to talk music. That's true. It's not great talking setlists if it's about the list of songs. That's how I feel anyway.
Everybody knows that I don't agree much with someone like Mathijs. But the man deserves a world of respect for actually having an opinion on how they play. That's, believe it or nor, almost a rare sighting on this board (And most other boards for that matter).

The point is, if we were only here discussing the shows we saw, it'd be pretty boring.

Why is it for example so difficult for Ronnie to end the guitar solo from Sway in the right moment? Just listened to a recording from Tokio 2006 where Ronnie did play the solo to long. It shouldn't be that hard as the song is clearly structured and not that difficult to play (if properly rehearsed)

What has that got to do with this?

Something like that is good I think. The Ronnie bashing threads (Or bashing-threads in general) starts with those kinds of posts. But at least it's about music and not some song list on the review sites.

Gecko: We wouldn't just be discussing shows we saw. There's a world of other possibilities. Other tours, albums, paticular songs, bootlegs, gatherings. Stuff like that. You name it. But it seems setlist threads are very popular right now. That was my Licks Tour rant. I knew before that tour started that they would get kicked for doing "normal" setlists from that point on...

I think the Licks tour showed what they could do when they put their mind to it.

I have to agree with Gecko on the statement that 99% of the crowd in Halifax had never seen the Stones before. I'm hard pressed to believe that only 500 had ever experienced them before. This band has a following that will travel.

This is discussing music, and not 'Ronnie Bashing'. But you understand that I pressume.

This setlist whining is so ridiculous. I was at Boston Wednesday nite and it was fantastic. To me it was a great set-list. But of course one of the local papers complained the 1st half of the show was so-so but the last half was great. The last half were all the well known songs.

Other than some of us fanatics who go to as many shows as our credit cards allow winking smiley the fan who has not seen many live shows and don't have hundreds of boots, want to here the classic songs. Why don't you whiners understand this.

I took my older sister to opening nite in Fenway. She is 53 years old, grew up in the 60s with them. She wanted to here only the classic songs and would rather hear Satisfaction instead of say Sweet Virginia.

I get that us hard core fans would love to hear rarely played songs live, but the band has an obligation to all fans.

I'm with Kent when he just enjoys whatever they play. When I go to a concert, I want to see the band do its thing and if I get fortunate to hear some rarely played songs (Rocks Off, Memory Motel, Sweet Virginia) that's all the better.

Yeah yeah. That's what I meant. You got the idea.

Saturn57: I enjoy it whatever they play because I simply just "rock away". When you do that, you completely forget about setlists. Of course if they couldn't play I would think it sucked. But they can play. It's very competent I think.

Anyway, I think by "protesting" you can positively influence the setlists for future show(shows YOU will see).
