Nebraska, what a great album. Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty, and meet me tonight down in Twitty City. Sorry, Atlantic City. Still thinking about that Conway Twitty reference a few posts back.

Nebraska is so beautifully sparse.......it's creepy (in a good way)

I keep hearing about this unreleased Gift of Screws album. Any idea what year it was recorded and why it wasn't released? Sounds pretty good. Not sure what's up with the title, tho - Gift of Screws, is that like when you buy your buddy a hooker?

Creepy in a good way, that's a great description. Possibly the most depressed album ever made but somehow uplifting (possibly because of the closing song, Reason To Believe).
My ex-girlfriend always used to complain when I played it, saying "how can you listen to that, it's so depressing!" I tried to explain to her that its like the blues, it's not supposed to depress you, it's supposed to make you feel better when you are depressed. But she still didn't get it. That was several girlfriends ago. Relationships come and go, but I still love Nebraska.

LOL! Actually, it comes from an Emily Dickinson's poem "Essential Oils Are Wrung", or something like that.
The album was recorded around 2000-2001 (with heavy contributions by Mick Fleetwood & John McVie) and rejected by the record company who was pushing for a full-blown Fleetwood Mac reunion. Several of the tracks ended up on "Say You Will" (with overdubbed Stevie vocals) and a couple more on his new one. Great songs still remain unreleased, however.
This would have easily been his best solo album, imo.
If interested, drop me an email with your address and I will send you a copy of the cd. It is quite amazing if you are an LB fan...and it has 3 Stones songs on it!
