USA fans get preferential treatment AGAIN
Posted by: SonicDreamer ()

Well, looks like our brothers and sister Stones fans in the States have been accorded preferred status again (lucky b*stards).

The new set list changes are fabulous but my grumble is why did they not do that when they were in Europe?

Sure Twickenham 2 and a few other European gigs were honoured with wonderful song switches but generally the set lists were quite standardised.

The cynic in me says that the USA changes are to get more bums on what would have been otherwise empty seats for forthcoming shows, at re-visited venues/areas Stateside.

What chance will European fans have to hear the songs below?

Monkey Man
Sweet Virginia
Ain't Too Proud To Beg
You Got The Silver
Little T&A

By the time of the European shows predicted for Summer 2007 happen, the band will no doubt of become bored with this injection of rarely played tracks and have jettisoned them again, sigh...........

I think they just didn't rehearse enough before the european leg of the tour. Due to Keith' accident they run out of time and had to focus on a standardised set list. Looks like they used the break between the european tour and the fall tour pretty good.

May be you forget, but this is the 2nd part of the ABB tour in North America, and the 3rd time they come back to Boston. Even the 2nd time they were digging out great stuff like Memory Motel. If you are desperate for new stuff and changes then go see them in Boston, NYC, Chicago and LA. Places they play frequently and repeatedly. Where the number of returning fans is high. But most of these songs will show up anyway, somewhere, sometime. One of the reasons why people follow the band around of course.

I'm confident that Europe will get a huge surprise.
Many new songs, better venues, energetic performances
and artistic praise as well as new studio albums
on a regular basis (every 2 years at least).

i share your concerns SonicDreamer, but after the excellent UK shows in August, i'm confident for good things next summer.

It seems that this is Part II of the tour, so when they hit Europe in Spring 2007, the setlist will look very different from summer 2006

In all fairness, I think you do have a certain point. The prices dropped like a rock. The setlist is so different. I mean, it just sucks. Bjornulf's comment of "go see the Boston, New York shows" is pretty dumb considering the fact that you're talking to a European.

It sounds a little childish but I also feel kind of ripped off. I had a fantastic show, don't worry. But this is something else. They're all such fantastic shows. Also, I only got to see one show for financial reasons.

But, if they come around again in 2007, with setlist like this, I'll be happy.

I think so, you'd have to ask Cohl. He's currently in my basement with his genitals wired to explosives, so he'll pretty much do anything if you ask him.

Any requests?

Relax SonicDreamer.

What you're forgetting, and I KNOW this to be true, Stones regard Europe as "home" and they (or some of them) have their pride. You'll get more great shows and set lists.

I can understand the European fans frustration. But it is simple...you want to see this set?? Then get on a plane!

I saw them in my hometown Novmeber '05 and missed out on Sway, As Tears Go By, Streets Of Love (yes I wanted to hear that), etc....so you know what?

I flew across the U.S. and across the Atlantic to get in on the European Tour.

You guys should try and do the same if you can manange.

Thanks to bv and lettingitbleed for their advice. Obviously they don't even realize it borders on the obscene for a number of us, but anyway... Maybe they'd be willing to pay me the trip?

Oh come on, who really wants to hear those obscure songs. Let them do them in the US. They're so easy please.

Next year we'll get the real Stones back with plenty of warhorses and we'll be more than happy. Can't wait to get the warhorse-setlist back in 2007.

If you're lucky enough to get front row tickets for free.

tat's right. Your Euro will go farther here. And the weather isn't as cold and dreary and Europe in the fall/winter. (except the norheast coast area I guess)

So come on over! If we can go there, you can come here. I promise we'll keep Bush off your ass. smiling smiley

If you can afford serveral Stones shows in a tour, you can get some cash together for a flight and hotel. And if you love them so much, how could you not be willing to travel?

So lets stop being so bitter about a set you like not being in your hometown and celebrate the new sets together.

Yes we get special treatment because our President is a loonatic...who knows what he is capable of doing next. As the old joke goes, "What do George W Bush and the Red Hot Chili Peppers have in common?" They both like to shoot up everything in sight.
