Steve Lillywhite, you should give back that paycheck or give the mix another go.
You're not sitting on your ears & I know you can do better - do it.

That was CBS. They wanted a colourful band photo as a cover^^
maybe the "boys" would have burned them - but I believe they didn't belong to 'em

phew, Erik
I forgot to mention who I was quoting.

How can you hate a picture of the greatest R&R band, having a swell time in the 80s fashion? (not you, open-g)
I think you're grumpy today.

Most people don't like the day-glo Miami Vice fashions. I remember that photo. At the risk of offending a LOT of people, isn't it a little too gay for the Stones?

Do you think that 86 photo is gay? Remember the early 70s? That fashion would be gay-looking on most people......not on RS though.

To me, Ronnie looks a bit pink fruity, but the others are OK.
Richards looks like Tom Cruise.

they where all off the rockers...."one Hit " is a great number...goes to show you if they would have had it together it could have been (DW )up to there standards ...no worries go put on Beggers

I believe they weren't in charge for quite a few things in those days.

>>Breaking with Rolling Stones tradition, the album contained a lyric sheet, apparently at the insistence of CBS Records, who also pushed for the atypical colorful band-photo cover.<<
according to^^
[en.wikipedia.org]
you can add or correct wikipedia.
btw, there were lyric sheets in Tatoo Yoo, weren't they? maybe more?

I always liked that Keith hogs the couch all to himself. And Mick is barefoot.

If CBS was pushing for a colorful photo then why did they hide it behind a dark red shrinkwrap? My vinyl copy still has its wrap -- I just made an incision down the side to slip the record out. I also recall the inside of the sleeve is dark pink. I miss records.

DANDELIONPOWDERMAN

"Where The Boys Go, ..............."

Know a good psychologist? Excellent, maybe you need to give him/her a ring and see if they have any slots next Wednesday?

That song is like the equivalent of how you would feel if one's partner has just given you the 'Spanish Archer,' then, whilst walking along the street a pigeon defecates on your head, followed by a huge truck hitting a massive dirty puddle a metre away from you and turns you into melting chocolate rabbit, then an exocet missile enters one's right nostril.........

Where the Boys Go is an excellent song. I don't see how anyone can dislike it.

I think they just thought they wanted to make an album.

You can't control art. It just becomes what it becomes - I know this from experience. You can try to guide what you want it to become, but to completely attempt to contain it is impossible. It's 99% pure luck, and 1% planning. It either works or it doesn't. The album has got to work for someone out there, and if so, then great.

hm. well, thanks for the insight - i guess.
so presenting themselves as transvestite wig models on an album cover is cool,
but if it's colourful it looks "a little too gay for the Stones"??
(we are talkin about the same Stones, right?)

OH I love that picture -- Mick looks ready to collapse but Keith's ready for round 2.

Yeah, in the "gay parthenon" of the Stones the cover of DW doesn't even warrant a mention.

i ´ve always loved DW - when it came out in 86, and i still love it! i admit that the 80´s production can annoy, especially the sound of the drums, but i love the raw sound in general and especially the loud guitars!

And some songs are great: in the first place One hit (what for a riff!), but also Fight, Harlem Shuffle, Too Rude, Dirty Work, and Sleep Tonight! I even like the by many hated Hold Back, i admit alomost shamefullysmiling smiley)))

And i think DW show the stones at a very important moment in their career, when they almost broke up as a band.

Is this coming from a Stones fan? smiling smiley

Yeah, I love the stones' punkish period, and I love WTBG! I was referring to the "Can I keep a secret from yooooouuu-part" when I described the fashion for Jagger's howling. I think we hear to little of that today - his voice is somewhat thinner nowadays.

For one seconds I thought my memory played me tricks, but looking back at the cover Keith is barefoot, as I remembered correctly.
Is this a joke?

Anyway, I don't like much DW but One Hit makes it worth buying, awesome number, awesome. The song's full of drama and that's what I like about the Stones, when they make dramatic music.

Also, no matter how much I like or dislike DW, it's the record that made me discover the Stones when I was 12 so, who cares ...
