I was quite surprised reading about Beast Of Burden on this thread as well... and Too tight... When I was little (about 9), Congratulations was among my favorites...!

Who the f*ck is Mick Jagger?

LOL!

For me, it's "Indian Girl." I really do think that an outside producer would never have let that one go through. Even more mind-boggling that it got on there when there HAD to have been something else in the can that would have been a great ending to side one of Emotional Rescue-- "So Dumb" "No Use In Crying," "Dancing Girls" etc. and on and on.

Rooster, you are sooo right - Midnight Rambler just goes on and on to its predictable end (which seems to take forever). It's a shame so many people like it and identify the Stones with it. The common denominator taste. And not the most uplifting lyrics, I might add. What is wrong with people? I'm sure the Stones would love to drop it, but the peep would have a fit. One of my least favorite songs they do would have to bee "Memory Hotel" - really bad. But I love the good ones and no one can write 100% good stuff.

I Go Wild....

Seems like a Bon Jovi or any other '80s stupid "rock" bands song. Just can't stand it.

This is a most interesting post, but from a different angle, it really hits home the the fact that the Stones reach SUCH a wide audience, while some people hate the Rambler and JJF (I AIN'T one of them), others despise ballads...this is an interesting phenomenon. Just goes to show the power of the Stones...I have a ton of songs that I love one day, and and skip the next....But I will change the topic, as, I dont want to go here. My Favorite song--version is STREET FIGHTING MAN, Get Your Ya Yas Out version....the greatest ROCK'n'Roll record of all time.

i go for Blinded by Love, close followed by Indian girl!

Fool to cry i don´t like either, the beginning is quite ok, but than it´s much too long and becomes very boring....

I don't particularly despise ballads, just that particular one. Well, despise is such a big word. I'd still prefer Fool To Cry over any Top 40 shit nowadays..

There are lots of Stones tunes I don't particulary care for, but only one I pretty much despise... Back To Zero

So Voodoo Lounge, you've told us what doesn't appeal to you. WHAT four songs do you love?

YES, this IS a test!

Hold Back, Back to Zero

Winning Ugly, Rock and a Hard Place

She Was Hot chorus (maybe partials don't count)

nothing to complain about pre-1983

hold back
back to zero
sing this all together

agree and that's a very telling comment. it's my opinion that the Jagger-Richards songwriting combo lost its mojo somewhere around this time and they've never really gotten it back....

Oh Todd...Everyone has seen the evidence of YOU singing to that song. Might as well give it up.

Personally, I have a very hard time listening to Indian Girl

Is the "where is your mama" or "where is your papa" line that pushed you over the edge?

...................I was a butcher cutting up meat
My hands were bloody I'm dying on my feet
I was a surgeon 'till I start to shake
I was a falling 'till you put on the brakes .....................

the lyrics make me cringe...and probably why I never liked You Got Me Rocking........studio or live

PS Beast of Burden's guitars are magnificent.....

correct. and you didn't even mention the worst part - the chorus - the most cringeworthy of choruses they've ever subjected us to....

you guys are crazy - MR is the only warhorse i never tire of. to me it reflects their R&B roots - and i love the harmonica.

i think you mean "memory motel" - this is a song that took a little while it definitely grew on me - especially those keith lyrics we've raved about recently. just keep listening.

as far as my despised song, i don't listen to a lot of their last few albums but i don't like "i go wild" either and i would put "don't stop" up there too...however, i do like "gunface" - it's got that edge.

Back To Zero
Cherry Oh Baby
Undercover
My Girl (Sorry to Smokie Robinson, who wrote it and to the Temps, who recorded the classic version.)
