please no 60s or 70s legends page and richards. my vote goes to mike mccreedy of pearl jam and the edge. Eddie van halen is done-hes contributing music to porn?
Depends on what type of guitarist you are looking for. On Slide/Blues Derek Trucks hands down. Theres a reason why Clapton wanted him on his tour so he could play his Derek era songs.
The edge! oh pleaseeeee. Take away his effects pedal board and then see what he can do. dave matthews or john mayer would blow him away. Hell charlie burchill of simple minds is twice the guitar player he is.
clapton. a great blues guitar player and a great rock guitar player. he's both. fast, slow, smooth and clean. knofler is right beside of him. robin trower is pretty darn good also.
i got to say john frusciante...hands down as good as hendrix and SRV...give john mayer about 10 years and i would add him to this list oh and about van halen doing porn soundtracks...anything that he does for porn will be better then anything he did with hagar
Andy McCoy! both as a solo player, rhythm player and song writer. And the tone, which is unique. Lot's of crazy ideas too. For instance, a bozouki mixed with fuzz guitars etc.
He's good, but a bit too slick (his sound) for my taste. I have a couple of his records, but it's been years since I listened to them. Maybe I'll have to check them out again.
Jeff Beck is good but he's some kind of weird f*ck up, always dropping out of tours, what's the deal with that?
MY PICKS:
PEARL JAM BOYS EDGE JACK WHITE Guy who plays with ROGER WATERS on the Concert DVD from Portland, Oregon - In The Flesh is it? He's from Austin, Texas I think....
Best I have seen recently is a Texan called Buddy Whittington who plays with the current John Mayalls Bluesbreakers lineup - easily as good as some of the classic names from the 60's in my opinion.
Oh yes!!! this Dave Hole is great!!! I am agree with you, there are so many people no one knows, always same people on the top, but this one and many others are there as well.
Technically, the best guitar player I've seen in my life is Warren Heynes. But the best "rock n' roll" guitar is Keith Richards. In fact he's the Rock n'Roll.

What tours has he dropped out of?
I've seen him on several tours - never a problem. Never known that canceling tours/shows was an issue.
Saw him a couple of nights ago at a FL gig. He was doing his thing and he still does it better tham most. Very talented. Can solo over anything.
