Hey Adrian what is the deal with that Lanegan disc. What is it about? like?
What did you think of that Killers CD? I am surprised how much I like it.
The Faces Box Set...in some bizarre way I lost ONE of the 4 discs; only one of them. That Set has never left the house but it is gone. So I haven't been able to listen to any of it since because all I can think about is the one disc that is missing. So I justy re-ordered the entire set.
Last thing I got are the first two Izzy Stradlin albums. They are all out of print. I say that "117" is much better than the first one.

Chelsea-
the Isobel Campbell/Mark Lanegan album, is a remarkable piece of work.
I'd heard many good things about it, over the last couple of months, but when, over the weekend, i saw it in the HMV sale for £5, i couldn't resist.

It's one of the best £5, i've ever spent on music.

Lanegan has this rich, dark, brooding voice- are you familiar with his work with The Screaming Trees?... he sounds, to my mind, a little like Nick Cave.

Isobel Campbell's trippy, soft, spellbinding vocals, compliment Lanegan perfectly.
I've never been a huge fan of her old group, Belle & Sebastian, so i didn't know what to expect....she's got a beautiful voice,
and whoever came up wit hthe idea of this bizarre, yet genius collaboration,
of duets, deserves full marks.
It's quite a trippy, hazy record, with some wonderful lyrics- it's one of the best things i've heard all year.

As for The Killers- a little disappointing- it hasn't got the great, stand out singles, like 'Hot Fuss'- i suspect it's a grower and needs a few more listens.

3 CDs of the usual Killer material BUT
on the final disc for the first time
ever are 2 numbers from an acetate that
a 16 year old Jerry Lee cut at J&M Studio,
New Orleans back in 1952. His best friend
Cecil Harreison has kept the acetate in a
suit case for some 54 years. The first side
features Jerry Lee performing an amazing
version of Lefty Frizzell's - Dont Stay Away
with the other New Orleans Boogie showcasing
the young Killers red hot boogie style...........AMAZING STUFF!!!!

Katy Steele has a great voice-
they deserve to be known, outside of Australia.

Adrian L! If you are going to a Raconteaurs-concert this autumn you can listen to BigBang. They are warm up-act.

Curious, your thoughts about BB and how are Raconteaurs live?

Elvis Country, Stones In The Park and Lust For Life (I had given my original CD to a friend)...arrived 2 minutes ago,
still waiting for the other Elvis albums and Buired Alive.
Play.com actually send the stuff out, without taking money for postage...even up to where I live, really great,
well, I'll go out driving and listen to Elvis for an hour, now, it's a good way to listen to music.

& one of the ultimate comp.cd's with music fetched from a good 70 year
long time span from Dr Satan deep deep down under....

Seeing the Raconteurs, tonight, tussler (fri 20th).

i saw them, for the first time, back in June @ the O2 Festival in Hyde Park,
they were superb - Jack White is a demon on guitar, and he certainly gets-off, on having his buddy Brendan Benson, and the 2 Greenhornes, onstage with him...

he seems relaxed, didn't stop grinning, and is enjoying the freedom and not shouldering the sole-responsibility, of being the driving force behind
The W. Stripes.

I saw the Raconteurs live a couple weeks ago and...Jack White was great. he ruled the band. I thought they were good but they all are better in their respective other bands IMO.

Blind Faith DVD from London Hyde Park, 1969
Average at best. Mainly a collectable piece.

Bob Dylan, "Modern Times"
Outstanding. One of the best CD's I have bought in a long time.

I met some friends at Barnes and Noble last week while the store was having a CD sale. The selection was mostly greatest hits stuff but with my discount card I was looking at only $9 for each. So I bought the following: Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits, the Essential E.L.O. and Carole King's Tapestry. I have been listening to the E.L.O. ever since in my car, non-stop.
