Before I fogot: It's not too often that you can hear Blondies great guitar work on a live boot. But just listen to Slipping Away and you'll recognize his guitar work. Especially the "mandolin" like part after the solo.

There is only one boot that I know where you can hear that too: "It's A Long Way To Tipperary" from VGP (the first Point show).

So you see, at least something positive of the FM broadcast ;-)

On JJF in the end, you hear the main riff, the sitar part and a third, great guitar. Is that Blondie?

Just listened to the live boot for the first time-what a great concert!!

I was at Twickenham 1 -I really like She's so Cold and the version of Sway is better than at Twickenham-just wish they had done Midnight Rambler as they did a killer version at Twickenham.!

It is indeed a great recording. Are the missing songs LWM and SFTD somewhere available too? Why were these two left out?

LWM and SFTD must be available somewhere-someone on the forum will probably know

I believe that they messed up the ending for LWM. But the Radio 2 show was only ever 90 mins so I guess they had to cut something-ashame about SFTD though

had a conversation with well-respected moderator from another board in London that went something like this:

Moderator: "Blondie's playing half of Keith's parts these days."
StonesTod: "Who's playing the other half?"
Moderator: chortle

You can also hear him play on LIVE LICKS. Also of course in the live concert.
Blondie's work for the Stones might be underrated at times. He's a great guitar player...

oh, sure....i'll be there - prolly as much for Van as the Stones, though. I thoroughly enjoyed myself at the London shows, but without a changeup in the set, the Oakland draw ain't that big for me at the moment.

I'll up be up in Duck country tonite - celebrating tomorrow's b-day with a victory over Stanford and then partying with fam/friends the rest of the weekend.

Happy Birthday to you StonesTod (Don't get mad 'cause I said that)! I know I'm a day early, but just so I don't forget and I know you'll be out of town. Hey! Would you be kind enough to include a copy of the Steel Wheels outtakes and Gorgeous Girls Redux (yes, I have HG already, but I want to see what the big difference is) in the next package of cd's that you were working on to send me prior to taking off on your vacation? Many Thanks! =)

NOT even if AC/DC (in addition to Van-is that even possible?) really, truly does open for the Stones?

Having been there recently, Glasgow isn't quite what it was in '78....the shipbuilding industry fold really hurt the economy/etc. Or, perhaps you're talking about the Stones.....

AC/DC aint gonna be there. I wish they would get their butts in gear and do SOMETHING. But theres no evidence this will happen.

Yea Blondie's great but since when did he join the Stones. Do they need another guitar player?? I was pretty annoyed when I saw him in 4 flicks.
More annoyed when I saw him playing live last year. Maybe they could just hire an entire backing band then Keith and Ronnie could just make faces at each other and dance and pose for the crowd.

Year, I think especially during JJF when there's a lot of posing for the press winking smiley

Blondie once told me that Keith asked him to play a bit more guitar. In 2003 I also saw him playing a golden Les Paul but didn't see him this tour. Just the oil can guitar during JJF and the acoustics.

At Glasgow Blondie played The Gold LP for JJF "hiding behind" Chuck`s gear.

GuessWho, was it really a LP? THis tour he plays this oil can guitar guitar when I saw him playing.

Gold LP at DV as well.

I clearly saw Blondie lurking at the back of the stage with said Les Paul.

Don`t know why it caught my eye....perhaps being in Block A3 after the initial rush of JJF starting I just scanned the stage for the Backing Vocalists ...who, as reported were off stage, I caught site of Blondie.

He plays the gold-top on Before They Make Me Run this tour.

Yeah, well I think the idea behind Blondie playing acoustic guitar on some songs on stage is to add another texture to some of the songs. They did the same on all the classic recordings, be it JJF or BS or whatever. Layers of electric guitars over a basic acoustic sound. Makes the whole thing sound richer and fuller. Now they try to recreate that on stage by letting Blondie play another guitar. Besides, he's got nothing else to do on stage, has he ? :-)

Guys i don't want to ruin the good vibes in this thread, but it seems that there is a problem with this radio broadcast.

I was in Glasgow, pretty close to the main stage on Keith side, and almost front row b-stage during the bstage set. Usually i'm a good and positive fan, ready to forgive a lot of things and to enjoy, but i have to say that Keith was not good at all this night, pretty up in the stratosphere most of the time, didn't play half of what he is supposed to play (drunk? Sick? On drugs? Tired?). Mick did a lot of mistakes in the lyrics, more than he use to do. The crowd saved the show, incredibly nice, enthousiastic, over excited, warm and friendly.

First question: I agree that the recording is pretty good. Why is it so different with what i've heard live? Maybe you will answer that the way we receive a live concert is very subjective and depend on our own mood, etc, etc.....

OK, so second question: Keith had problems with his guitar or amp or wireless connection during the bstage set, Start Me Up. Finally, he put down his guitar, waiting for a tech and stayed unoccupied, half laughing and half angry, kicking his amp a few times. I was 3 meters in front of him and trust me he didn't play at all for one or two minutes. Surprise, he is playing all the time on the broadcast/recording. So ??????????

Yeah the broadcast I hear is hollow and there is echo in parts and I never heard any at the concert ??.

The Beeb or Stones have done something strange to this recording !!!.

Keith I think was not well He really did look run down and spent a lot of time hanging at the back.

Did not stop me having a damn good time and I was stone cold sober btw.
