though i am done with stadium show too, and take cum grano salis the reviews that every time says the last show is the best ever, i have to say that the above is bs. i've read very few "totally negative" reviews, while i often read of bad sound problems. That was exactly my experience and the main reason why i am going to quit stadium shows.
anyway, your first post here stonefrk read exactly as beast did: good reviews=bs / bad review=accurate.

Stone-relics, your argument reminds me of the dispute between Mozart and Salieri (his teacher) where the first was the music genius and the second was great with...notes. So according to your view there's nothing more than the music as it comes out of the speakers when you go to a concert???????

I think there's a lot more and all the things are part of the experience and the way you review and judge it.

I was in the crowd on Brown Sugar from Flashpoint and when I listen to it memories come back but that recording does not convey all the experience of it.
no way.

Stonesfrank, and I say this only because I care, there are plenty of brands of decaf out on the market today that taste just as good as the real thing.

I wasnt beeing sarastic. In a big venue, not everyone is going to have the same experience. not everyone is gunna have a good time. Thats all im saying. Ive never insulted anyone on here man.

Why when someone criticizes the Stones are they being courageously honest, as if praise is hype, or folks who've been duped, lying to selves, etc...Gigs vary, as do opinions...This comment about tanx 4 the honesty only follows 'negative' (not nec.) criticism tho.

I always laugh when I read these posts that say "Oh they were much better on Licks. Back then they played like a true rock band and everyone was on top form". It's so hilarious that people wants to slam them on the current tour. It was the same with Licks. When we had that tour, people said they sucked too and the 97-99 tour was much better. LOL. Also, we often hear the stupid Vegas act comment. On Licks people said that they should be careful not becoming a Vegas act. Then we got ABB and people said "They are a Vegas act". Lol. Jerk comment to make, but hilarious. It's like: Forty Licks CD. Licks tour. ABB. ABB tour. Boom. Vegas act. LOL. It doesn't ahppen like that, but I still laugh my ass off every time I read it.

The main problem at Glasgow was a technical one - as soon as they moved to the B-stage, the guitars, or their monitors, kept packing up. Ronnies packed up on Rough Justice and a cable had to be replaced, then Keefs monitor broke down completely and he was furious - he dumped his guitar, stomped around and gave the monitor a right good kicking. After that the sound never really recovered and on Satisfaction, Ronnie must have changed guitars at least 8 times till he got one that even made a noise. No wonder it sounded odd. I wouldnt like to be a guitar technician after that show......
That said, at the last show I was at, in Munich, the sound was perfect, we got 22 songs, nothing like as many mistakes but it was'nt half as good as Glasgow. The atmosphere was just tremendous.
If you want perfection, stick to U2 or Pink Floyd - if you want REAL rock (warts and all), stay with the Stones!!

I was right by the b-stage when this happened, and this incident was quite a display yawning smiley)

Isn`t this all a load of subjective crap, teleblasters "good ears"! Who cares what anyone else thinks, stick to your own unique experience, oh and read the Scottish press reviews.

Ok I was a wee bit drunk when I posted that. I dont want to upset anyone. I just thought it was a tremendous gig. I think there can be far too much navel gazing here sometimes, and nobody should criticize a gig they werent at when the boots havent even circulated. Hopefully the radio broadcast tomorrow will demonstrate how awesome they were in Glasgow. Its true they had sound problems on the B stage, and to my ears the guitars dropped out completely for a while during Satisfaction. But the Glasgow crowd were well up for it and were rewarded with a fantastic show

My point was that any opinion about individual performances is subjective, but that the sound is not and that on Friday there were plenty of occasions when I could see Ronnie and Keith playing, but couldn't hear any guitars. Yes the audience loved it, but this is not a criticism of the band or the audience. I listen to a lot of guitar music and can certainly tell when they're not there and this was the case where I was standing on Friday (and it's the first time I've had a major issue with the sound at a Stones gig)

Re: whats going on in Glasgow?

Of course its subjective. If you cant hear a show properly then it stands to sense that its going to be hard to enjoy it. I was in the 4th row just left of centre and the sound was superb. When we ran back to stand in front of the b-stage for THAT part of the show, it was so bad that my mate turned to me during Rough Justice and in all seriousness asked "what the @#$%& were they playing?". View was great however.

Luckily I had great seats for all 3 shows this week so obviously that helped with my enjoyment of them all. Oddly enough, the seats I had on Tuesday at twickenham were the most central (A3, row 5, just about 7 seats in from the catwalk) yet that was the only one of the 3 shows were the sound wasnt QUITE perfect.

That's funny, i never criticized any of the UK shows,All i said is when somebody posted the bad review from Glasgow,i thought everything in the UK was a little to peachy for three gigs in a row,i hav'nt heard that this whole tour here, that everything was the best ever every night.I said that is weird because quite honestly it is. That might just be the Brits protecting the band obviously, because when somebody even mention's the slight fault of any of those gigs,it like all hell breaks loose and the dobermans are out to get you.Pretty funny actually it's comedy, you have to drink beers all day and laugh at this sh**. I guess it's a one way street with the Brits everything is the best in the UK as far as the stones are concerned. I take this sh** with a grain of salt. Like i said many times over every stones gig is a good gig,and if your lucky you might get that legendary show once in awhile, not everynight, sorry guys i've seen them to many times for that, maybe in the earlier years that could happen, but not on this tour.

This was a gig in my home town - thats what made it special. I have said it over and over. I saw them in St Louis back in January. I loved that too, but its a bit special when they play in your back yard. Like I said elsewhere if you werent there then please dont assume to know what they were like. Oh and why cant they play 3 blinding gigs in a row in the UK. You sound like you dont want them to!
