Was just burning some Stones live discs for a girlfriend (Like to spread the evil whenever possible!) and realized that if the Stones would release this officially, it would not only be their greatest live cd, but the best ever!! (unless maybe if they release a 72-73 disc). They were so amazing in 78, raw, hot, wild, sexy, and beautiful (the why i like my women, coincidently, LOL!).
Well DrPete, l don't know about your drinking habits, but l agree 100% with your opinion about "Handsome Girls". It is the best Stones Live album ever, bar none.
Handsome girls is the best boot ever. They play fast, mick is really loose especially compare to what he has become on stage since 1989. Keith's sound is pure rock and roll, dirty,on the edge.I listen to Handsome girls quite regularly. Hum,you know I need that shot of nasty rhym and blues. They don't play like that anymore. But I still love them. Rock and roll Mops
I still like the Passaic show. Although the vinyl release sounds much better than any cd release.
I prefer Handsome Girls above Gorgeous Girls, wich is a release of well known stuff (at least for collectors and fans who are around a little longer).
When Swingin' Pig released Handsome Girls, it had despite of the well known KBFH stuff, new unreleased live recordings and at the time in best available quality. Was a real treat when it came out and still a great bootleg release.
There are lots better sounding boots....Sydney, 1973, Brussells and London /Newcastle 1973 (I have the original KBFH reel tapes at 7.5 ips, as well as the 78 and 81 tapes....). Plus, ladies and Gentlemen is way better than 78, although I do like those shows. Of course, nothing compares to the 69 US tour and earlier stuff with Brian. again, jmho.

LOL Kent, Gorgeous Girls Redux are just Handsome Girls tweaked a bit by the Good Sister, Sister Morphine.....

Ya Ya's although a very good record, had a lot of overdubs done at the studio So its not a real "live" album. Handsome Girls on the other hand is a faifull recreation of what the band sounded like on those nights in 78. For me is the Stones at their best.
ROPENI, the point about "HG" being a "true" live album is what hits home.
Considering that the 78 Tour had mixed reviews, we are extremely fortunate in that some of the best performances were captured for posterity.
As a matter of fact, when you cull "the Best of the Hansome Girls" set, there are very few screwups -- the band, when "on it", is amazingly tight.
"When the Whip Comes Down", from Detroit, ranks as one of the most intense Stones raveups ever recorded -- that one, and "Let It Rock" from the same show, are my two favorites. I could listen to them over and over, and I sometimes do (LOL).
Addendum: it also helps that Ronnie and Keith are treated equally in the stereo mix -- THIS is what the legendary "weave" was all about.
2nd addendum: Ronnie's lead break In "Whip" from 3:53 to 4:20 is 27 seconds of quintessential Ron Wood -- trills, flutters and bent-string chordal riffs done like no one else -- I love it.

Things sold as 'live' recordings should be 100% live. The more I read about YaYa's, and the more I listen to boots of those shows, it is apparant that YaYa's had a lot of overdubs. Great record to listen to (it's what got me into the Stones as a 10 year old) but not totally live. (In the Stones defense, most other 'live' releases of that era were 100% live).
One thing I love about the boots on IORR is that they are LIVE. Rough edges, mistakes and all.
