I'm going. With my girlfriend. Significant concert for me and for her: This will be her first Stones gig ever! She is dying for "Paint It Black", so i wish the Stones will play it. My girlfriend actually is not into the Stones, but after having seen some DVD, especially Buenos Aires 2006, she told me: "atleast on stage they must be by far the best rock band". So she comes with me in Porto.

We arrive in Porto in they day of the gig. Just two questions.

(a) The distance between city's center (my hotel is in Manuel Moreira Be Barros Street) and Dragao stadium? I like walking...

(b) I bought tickets for seats. É prefer FOS, of course. But the girlfriend is very short, so FOS would be a big problem for her. I wonder if i'll have a problem now: I can't enjoy a Stones concert without dancing and standing up, all the time! What do you think? Have i any problem? I hope NO, expecting that the whole audience will be "crazy", as me. As usual, in the South Europe.

Hi stickydion.

You can have a look on www.viamichelin.es.
You can choose your trip (=itinerarios).
Salida (=departure) and Llegada (=arrival).

I shall arrive on saturday afternoon.

FOS is no problem if you are short. Actually much better. Just stay at the back of the FOS and you have perfect view, even if you are short. And you are still very close to the stage!

Anybody knowing where this place is?
This is where Tim Ries will perform his Rolling Stones project
on the day before the show i.e. on Friday Aug. 11:

CAE Large Concert Hall, Figueira da Foz, Rua Abade Pedro.

Anybody knows a place in Porto to meet, have a drink, talk about the concert and spend a good time?

Thanks a lot, Jon Lasa.

BV, maybe you're right, i never stayed at the back of the FOS. But it's too late, i already bought the tickets. I just hope than noone will be bothered by my dancing and standing up during the concert...

Hello Everybody!!!

I am going to Porto from Lisbon, by car, on show day (300km).

I will stay at the Mercure Hotel in Gaia (city just in front of Porto, other side of the Douro Valley, and where are the famous Port Wine Cellars, that MUST be visited). It takes 1 minute to cross the bridge by car (arrabida Bridge) or you can walk and take some lovely pictures on the other one (D. Luís Bridge)

My suggestion for a nice meal, a few drinks, a good chat and a FANTASTIC view of Porto and the Douro River is the restaurant/bar called:
Ar-de-Rio. (+351223701797) ask for Mr. Domingos, the Manager.

This restaurant, located in Gaia, in front of Porto, has a GREAT esplanade, and a very nice ambient where you can have a great portugese apethiser called Port-Tonic (White Dry Port, Tonic Water, lemon and lots of ice cubes!!)

I will arrive there at 14h30 with a nice group of friends (15 in total) that are from Harcore-addicted (me...) to the casual fans (will they play Start me Up?). But everyone will be there to have a fun day and pleasure evening with our Boys!!

I recommend, from here, getting to the venu by taxi (cheap in Portugal) or by tram (you can enjoy a view of the city).

Restaurant: www.arderio.com

The view, as you see, in a sunny day, is unforgetable!!!

So hope to see you there and CHEERS!

ATTENTION:

The Tim Ries show is not in PORTO.

It will be in city called Figueira da Foz, very beautiful, but 150 km south from Porto.

The place of the Gig is a wonderful auditorium with very very good acoustics, The city has a fantyastic beach!!!

Enjoy!!!

Hi.

There are 10 km, from Vila Nova to the Estadio by car.
Take E01/IC1 and then E01/I23 road.

I don´t know what about subway/bus/train.

Anyway, I,m still looking for a hotel. All of them seem to be full up.

The distance is not even 10km, maybe 5km at the most.

I know the city

:-)

The place is worth the visit!!!
