Thank you,

I dind't see any aextra camera'a like they had in 2003 in the Amsterdam arena so i don't think they filmed it for a dvd release.

Cheers,
Wuudy

I talked to one of the Stones cameramen about it and he said the show was definitely NOT filmed.

I've seen 2/3 guys with camera's around the stage, and a camera crane a few meters left from the centre of the stage.

Plus: a girl I spoke to in the train back to central station told me shw saw Mick, walking up the catwalk a few meters, working the public, and then directed the cameraman to film the public's reaction.

It COULD be filmed for the DVD. The setlist would also be very suitable. Three new songs, As Tears Go By, Bitch and Sway, Get Off Of My Cloud on the B-stage and Start Me Up back where it belongs, on the main stage. And Keith in great shape with two great songs.

No Midnight Rambler, NO shooting can EVER represent the experience of the magical Midnight Rambler, played live for you by the Rolling Stones. And they probably also know it.

I hope it will be brought out on DVD, so everyone can watch this great show, and people who were there, can watch the show again, this time in decent sound quality...

I'm sure they were not filming entire show for DVD purposes. 3 years ago they had all those extra cameras around the stadium - nothing like that in 2006, but indeed they might shoot some parts of it for official release.

BTW, I still hope Saint Of Me and Miss You (from A'dam 2003) which were supposed to be on Four Flicks will came out one day...they could release it on fanclub DVD...

Read Bjornulf's review from the filmed and released Twickenham show in 2003:
"As we arrived at the rugby ground, there were posters saying this show would be recorded, and there were cameras all over"

I wouldn't mind a DVD from Amsterdam, but I don't think the show was filmed for a DVD if there only were about 2-3 camera guys. The camera crane a few meters left from the stage, is there on every show. Usally for the offical releases, they bring up some guests (Voodoo Lounge: Robert Cray, Bo Didley. BTB: Dave Matthews, Joshua Redman (and Taj Mahal), LICKS: Sheryl Crowe).

Yes, that's right, didn't think of that.

Then the question is: which show WILL be shot for DVD? (And: who will be the famous guest...?)
It'll take some time to get it edited and shaped and styled, pressed and distributed. Four Flicks came out in november... So I still suppose it will be one of the European shows, or one of the first shows of the fall-tour. I mean, they will not wait till after christmas, that wouldn't be a smart thing. With all the US tickets sold soon, it is no problem to release the DVD before the end of the tour.

If it wasn't for the alternative stage, I'd say the free concert in Rio is the most likely concert to release.

Amsterdam wasn't even sold out, which doesn't look good on a screen, does it?

Saitama is a lot more likely, because Rio was musically pretty bad and Saitama was fantasic.

Although it doesn't matter, there were a few hundred tickets available, the day before the show. A lot of them will have been sold on the last day, so a little empty spot here and there, high up in the stadium, did not harm the exprerience at all, and will not be visible on any shooting.

But I think it was already clear that they did not shoot the show for the BB-DVD.

So far on tour these shows have been filmed proffesional: Detroit, Rio, Buenos Aires, Saitama. I'm sure I'm missing some shows. I guess a DVD will be from one of these filmed shows, or from an upcoming show in Europe. Or maybe they cut some diffrent shows together, and include highlights from the tour like Rio and Superbowl. Personally I think Rio, Buenos Aires and Saitama are great concerts to release. Rio for the event and the crowd, Buenos Aires because they played a fantastic gig for a fantastic crowd, and Saitama was not only a good concert - but directed very well.

Regarding what french friends told me about the Amsterdam show, this one would not be really a good musical choice...

YEah, but Saitama had a pretty lame crowd. Plus it doesn't sound as appealing as The Rolling Stones in Rio: greatest crowd of the century.

I thought the editing on the Rio show that was shown in movie theaters was jerky enough to give you an epileptic fit.

I don't understand why they edit these for the MTV generation. Makes no sense. The great thing about Saitama isn't so much the performance (which is good, but not spectacular), but the video -- nice, steady, long shots without the usual overemphasis on Mick. For me, this aspect of Saitama makes it the closest any DVD has come to a real concert experience. Another reason to choose Saitama or Rio over Amsterdam is that those shows took place pre-palm tree, and there seems to be a consensus that Keith's playing has declined since his operation.

I thought there was a consensus on the improvement of his overal performance...
Funny. I'd say: anybody who didn't see Keith perform in Paris or amsterdam, wait for the dvd/bootleg before you judge... (and feel sorry for yourself that you were not there! ;-)

It would be a good idea to do a long Tour-DVD with samples of several concerts. A tracklist suggestion:

1. Start Me Up
2. It's Only Rock 'n' Roll
3. Oh No, Not You Again
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Back Of My Hand
6. Rain Fall Down
7. As Tears Go By
8. Streets Of Love
9. Sway
10. Midnight Rambler
11. Worried About You
12. All Down The Line
13. She's So Cold
14. Mr. Pitiful
15. Get Up, Stand Up
16. Night Time
---Band Introduction
17. This Place Is Empty (Keith)
18. Before They Make Me Run (Keith)
19. Miss You (to B-stage)
20. Rough Justice
21. You Got Me Rocking
22. Out Of Control
23. Get Off Of My Cloud
24. Honky Tonk Women (back to main stage)
25. Sympathy For The Devil
26. Paint It Black
27. Brown Sugar
28. Jumpin' Jack Flash
29. Satisfaction

That would be 3 hours of pure joy.

You know, the consensus seems to be that Keith is getting better each show on this Europe leg, but not that he is playing better than he did pre-palm tree. I was actually at Paris and Amsterdam. But, I was sick as a dog at Paris, and couldn't appreciate it, although I enjoyed Rambler. My friend, who has been to four shows on this tour, said that it was great, and I believe her. At Amsterdam, I thought that Keith was in the best spirits that I have ever seen him, laughing and smiling throughout the show, but his solos were very safe and pedestrian, if that's the right term. I thought Ronnie was the stronger performer. To be fair to Keith, from FOS center, his guitar was not that clear from where I was standing, and the sound was echoing all over the place, which made it hard to hear (and probably, hard for him to play). I'll be at Twickenham on 8/20, so we'll see how that goes. Don't get me wrong, the Stones are still the only band I will board an inter-continental flight for, that's for sure.

In Amsterdam there was a camera in the lower tier of the onstage area on Keiths side which I never saw before (perhaps I missed them).
