On an Altamont note, I presume there are a few folk who were in attendance on that 'great' day. Any reminiscences you'd like to share - or is there a thread full of eyewitness accounts that someone can point me in the direction of.

That and my handle on most every other site online is Flight505. Unfortunately thats been taken here. Really there's no need for me to use my name as my handle. I don't do it anywhere else, so I guess today was new screenname day for me.

I had the first 9 tracks in sounboard quality. But it was something like 10th generation, and it was unlistebable.

I have always wondered about the audience tape. Eveything you hear on the tape is also in the movie, including screams and whatever. Most striking is the fade in of the SB Under My Thumb and Gimme Shelter it's exactly the same as the audience tape.

I guess the audience tape is from the audience microphone used for recording the movie.

Are you being sarcastic or did you just not read what Erik said? If you're being serious then you must have misunderstood.

He said BESIDES the officially released material from Altamont, there's nothing available.


Actually there is a brief clip of "Jumping Jack Flash" from Altamont floating around, but that's about it that I know of, besides the official stuff.

Are there different sources for this show in circulation? How would you grade this one? I'm not sure which release I have as I got it in a trade years ago just labled with the date and location, but its' a pretty bad audience recording.

Honestly I don't know too much about the various sources for this gig (if any) but this one is very listenable. The crowd is very restless and the recording does a good job of capturing the feel of the show. As far as sound quality is concerned its nothing like Live'R or Boston or any of the other great 69 gigs. Very different feel. I've listened to it once all the way through and played a few bits n pieces to various people over the past year or so. To me it feels like I'm being thrown into the craziness that was Altamont.

My question is this.

When Maredith Hunter is stabbed you can clearly see someone right in the front filming the whole event. Where is that footage? I haver never seen it and it would clearly shed a lot of light on what happened that night.
