It was normal that Zidane was punished
But I hope someday that insults will be punished too
don't you think so Materazzi ?

Italy dominated the first half. France the second half and the extra time. I thought that France would be exhausted . It was the reverse. Italy was lucky, but well done. Not a great match all in all. Curious to know what this italian told Zidane. Maybe the first will be in jail after tomorrow !!!!

Hey, I guess you're pushing it a bit too much.
I can take a little joking but your very last post is very insulting to me.
I am Italian, born and raised in italy, and been living on my own since I was 18, and I am a World Champion and you're NOT!

How can it be an insult if it's true Dunhill? This is a FACT: Italian men live at their parents home to a later age then any other European men(if you moved out early then it's not about you anyway so you should not feel insulted). My Girl Friend is a 100% Italian, her father comes from Santa Bartalemao (Spelling?) which is East of Napoli/West of Bari. You want to talk to Him? he'll tell you the same thing (and he can tell it to you in perfect Italian). You know it's true, if you don't you're in denial. How can the truth insult you? I still like Italy a lot and visit all the time but I'm just stating a fact. I have male friends in Italy and I can't respect this aspect of their lifestyle...but no big deal, they're still nice guys and my friends and yes. like you, some do move out early, many don't.....BTW, that was a very non exciting game and FRANCE played a better game, Italy ONLY had a good defense but weak offense. With that said, Italy deserved a win, I was in Firenze in 1990 when Italy lost (and as a host country) and it was TOO SAD so good that they got the top spot.....No hard feelings, OK?

Sorry Micksbrain, but what the f**k does your post have to do with us NOT winning the Cup according to you?
I don't get it. Your post was insulting because you portrayed us as being lame, over protected and basically not grown men, BTW where are you from? Just curious from which ubermenschen full country you do come from.
But, as I could understand your statements based on prejudice, what has it all to do with the fact that, according to your very funny working brain, we did NOT win the Cup?
Please do also note that Italy is country with very different traditions depending on the region, the south is more like you said, the North is way more mittle-european than you may think.
I am from Genova, BTW.

Yeah I agree with you, the south and the north are like 2 different countries. Look, it was just a stupid comment that was suppose to be kind of a joke. Me? My Parents came to USA after WWII so I'm "Officially" an American on paper - born here- but I have NO PROBLEM telling you 100 things wrong with "my country"(USA). Since my blood is a mix of French, Polish, and some Russian and Swedish you can say what you want about those countries (even though I now live part time in Paris) and I don't care. I just care what I do with my life. With that said I prefer Europe over America (especially since Bush) for 100 different reasons. Like i said, my GF is Italian, most of my past GF's have been Italian or Italian Americans so I gotta like the place , right? Don't know Genova very well (have been to the train station a million times) but like the Cinque Terra (sp?) and La Spezia further south and also Santa Marguerita - all very nice. To tell you the truth, and I'm serious here, Italy's biggest fault IMO, is they should pull out of Iraq the way Spain did and tell Bush to **** off. So it was a stupid joke, just let it go - if it upset you I'm sorry....don't take it seriously - was a bit upset about the World Cup but Italy deserves it.....

are you serious? what was the dirty trick? oh let me see, if an italian player lose his head and hit an adversary is a killer or something like that, if an italian player is hit by an adversary with a head in the chest he is a dirty tricker. oh yes, i should have known...

The real insult here is your nickname because it quotes something that your posts dont show

of course i'm serious! Materazzi spent the whole match provocating and insulting Zidane...not much to do with football skills. Italy has the most corrupted and racist football team in the world...not much to be proud about.

I think that penalties should be dropped from the WC final. If the two teams are drawn level then call it a tie.

I had a classmate in law school named "Chance Trimm". When we would go out to the bars to pick up girls, we would use the line "Give Chance a piece!". Worked every time (or maybe it was the drinks?)

As most of you know by now since it's all over the news, SUPPOSEDLY, since Zidane is of Arab/Algerian ancestry, he called him a "Dirty Terrorist"... (that's what all the US Sports shows are saying)....

I see it the same way. to make it short: At least Italy developed as the most obnoxious team in the championchip as they always tried to get any advantages outside the game itself on cost of their rivals. Why didn't they try to play clean and fair matches on their own?

Re: OT: Today is the day of FRANCE

Guess you are all short of memory.
In 2004 at the European Cup Italy's midfielder Francesco Totti, probably the strongest player in our team, was suspended for spitting on Denmark's Poulsen.
He missed 4 games, if we ever got to play 4 games, we were out at the first round.
What puzzles me is that the so calle dishonest Italians were the first to condemn Totti's gesture, as much as we condemned De Rossi's one in this Cup.
Still everybody says "poor Zidane, poor Zidane, he was provoked".
Totti was provoked too still the Italians you all love so much to call cheaters and dishonest, were adamant about him having to go home for what he'd done.

we won't know the truth thanks to you dunhill and neither thanks to Italian people who simply don't want to know what materazzi said.
They just don't care or maybe are afraid of what they're gonna hear !!

so, let's wait for Zidane to speak in a few days.

Re: OT: Today is the day of FRANCE

Whatever Matterazzi said I don't care, it's Zidane that lost it, not Matterazzi.
Come on guys, it's football not the World Chess Championship.
If he told Zidane he was a terrorist, so what?
I didn't hear anyone protest for Germany newspapers saying we are "pizza, spaghetti e mandolino" and that we are parasites and the audience booing our anthem in Dortmund against Germany.
Zidane lost it, it's his fault, have fun in your retirement.

Well, I did protest, but the German BILD (same as the SUN in Gcool smiley
always has headlines like this. The booing I didn´t like either,
but

1) not everyone was bóoing
and
2) the booers were heated up by the Italian campaign to let
Frings miss a game for his slap against an Argentinian player.

Re: OT: Today is the day of FRANCE

I don't feel insulted when people say about French that we are into bread, cheese and wine !

I can understand that you feel insulted when people boo your anthem because in France we experienced that too many times.

Yet, I think you're making a confusion between old clichés and what happened on sunday the 9th in Berlin...It has nothing to do.

I like pizza & spaghetti but not players like materazzi !

I have seen pictures of his exploits and I really don't understand how such players can operate at a professionnal level in a sport which is seen and loved by millions of people ! Lippi has a big responsability !

I would feel ashamed to have such a player in my team I tell you that !!

Re: OT: Today is the day of FRANCE
Posted by: dunhill ()
Date: July 11, 2006 12:06

BTW, today I read an interview to Materazzi and he tells his version of what happened:
"I did pull Zidane's jersey for a few seconds then he turned to me and said 'if you want my jersey I'll give it to you as a souvenir when we win at the end of the game' so I did tell him to go @#$%& himself or something like that. In no way have I told him anything about his mother or sister, my mother's dead and I would never insult anyone mother. I did neither tell him he was an Islamic terrorist, that's not the kind of thing I would tell a player, I use less sophisticated insults during games."

Of course this is his own versions of facts.

I don't. He's a great defense player, he scored three very important goals during the Cup, he's too agressive, we all know it, but during the tournament he did not commit any serious fouls.
