I just realized that I don't listen to the Bigger bang record lately, how about you ?

at 18-19 songs (w/ under the radar and we don't wanna go home and the RFD remix), there's a nice 4-5 song ep or 9-12 song lp in it for most folks. burn that 'custom' NICO disc and you'll listen to it alot. i never did like the original running order (or the idiotic omission of UTR from the main release) anyways, but it's the best batch of tunes since tattoo you, so what're ya gonna do?....except burn the songs you like.

most of the songs are still holding up for me, i just wish some of them were crafted a bit more...this is the first stones cd ever that could have used better intros and guitar breaks. that said, it's still got more songs on it that i like than the 5 previous cds.

Isn't it just a fact of life that most folks play a new album to death for a while... and then leave it alone for a spell ?

I know I'm like that.
I often find a lot more to like in an album when I do come back to it too ;^)

I listen to it almost every day.
Played myself sick of it the first few months, then I put it away for sometime, and now it's back again.
In my car I have ABB, Voodoo Lounge and Tattoo You at the moment, which I switch between.

i went a few weeks...but for the past few weeks i been playing JAMMING WITH EDWARD then bang...
bigger bang has been sounding better as its getting older..really is a great album...

i had it on this morning, and came to my usual conclusion: the world would be a finer place
if more people listened to the Rolling Stones - more often and louder :E

I know what you mean winter,Spud and Tekumseh most if the times if you have a new record you will play it all the time and then you will stop for a while, but I remember BB, LIB, GYYYO, and SF they never disapear from my turntable.

I have had alternating tracks on my mp3 since it's come out. Sounding better than ever to me. At first I was hating the production but I have gotten over the loud Mick vocal and loud clangy snare. Guitars are nice and crunchy.

In rotation now: She Saw Me Coming, We Don't Wanna Go Home and Biggest Mistake (believe it or not).

I didn't much care for ABB when if first came out - despite glowing reviews in the Danish press.

So I only played it a few times over a couple of weeks before I once again turned my attention til Grateful Dead - a band I've only recently become aware of....or rather been able to see the beauty in.

Then - in spite almost - I put ABB on one day...and it kinda stayed there for a good four or five months and still getting a regular spin....

Listened to it the other day in the car, kinda refreshing after not hearing it for a couple of months

Same here, but I'm do for a fresh listen soon. In hindsight a few too many tracks and they did leave out that one they should have left in. Believe it or not I've been listening to disk two of live licks lately in the car. Really like CYHMK RMB and WAY. Nice and loud.

I deliberately avoid OD-ing on records I like, and have around 2500 CDs and 2000 lps, which makes it easier...But to me, ABB remains a strong and enjoyable album, whatever one thinks of the usual 'best since Exile/SG/Tattoo You' hype. The Stones sound vital and involved, but I like most of B2B and VL as well. ABB is like a 180 degree turnaround from B2B in the way it has minimal outside musician input, and with Jagger playing lots of bass and more guitar than ever, they're still evolving. Too bad they didn't pley more than 3 or 4 new ones at any of the shows I attended in August and January.

I listen to it quite a bit. I listen mostly to live releases/recordings; the albums I listen to regularly are Exile, Sticky Fingers, Beggars, Some Girls, and ABB. It may not be their best work, but it sounds great and flows really well.

IMO JWE is vastly underated. I love it.

Blazing Rockers...Blues..Ballads...Funkers..Punkers
Oh yeah...The Banger has a slice of near on everything...

Gulp it all down at least once a day...DONT track jump
Should be a steady part of everyone's listening diet

I'm with Rockman on this -- the extended version of Bigger Bang is as strong as anything these guys have ever done, and I wouldn't be ashamed to play this album FIRST to anyone who's unfamiliar with their catalogue.

So, have you given up on them? Think they should hang it up? Nothing left to offer? When should they have stopped?

I'm not delusional, bud, nor am I disillusioned. They aren't the same now as they were in 1972, but who in their right mind would expect that?

Tell me, T&A, would you be happier in discussing past glories and writing epitaphs or do you hold any hope for the future?

I have to tell the truth. I don't like ABB except for a few songs. AT first I thought it was because most of the songs seem too fast. But Some Girls is fast and I listen to Some Gilrs about as much as anything else (except Exile).

ABB is not better than Tatto You or even close to Soem Girls. I want it to be- but it just isn't.

The Stones have not relased a great studio album in 25 years. Since 1981 when Mick and Keef "split" its neevr been the same.

How did you read any of that into my (T&A) remarks? That's not the alternative to hailing ABB as their greatest triumph, which it ain't to any reasonable consideration...

I like 8-9 songs on it, not bad effort.
