Worst Keith solo song?

His solo work, not guitar solos. Based on a similar thread by Havo.

"Big Enough"

I like both of those. The ones I am not crazy about are the groove jams like Rockawhile and even worse "Bodytalks". Keith has very few songs I don't like from solo years.
Drake for some reason "Yap Yap" always reminds me of the U2 song "You're so Cruel".

I love "Yap Yap." I never liked "Struggle." Not a bad groove, but you know the writing is weak when the first line of a song is "It's a [song's title]!"

Bodytalks for me too.

I never thought about that. It does have a similar groove... To be honest I didnt dig Rockawhile in the studio but live I do enjoy it.

cc, "Struggle" never really hit me either. It was emphasized so much around the time of Talk Is Cheap - I couldn't understand why.

maybe the writing is fine, but the title is weak
And who cares much about the title?

That is one thing I was going to add too Ryanpow: it is his Stones contributions that I am really not crazy about anymore. "Sleep", "Losing my Touch", "Can't be Seen", "Infamy" etc.

I love the riffing in Struggle, though - it only tightens up!

I haven't listened to Main Offender in years, so I've gotta throw it on again, but the second half of that album never really did it for me. I'll give it another listen before I start naming names, though.

'Struggle" is a...workout. A thesis, a doctorate. It should be a class in Musicology. How many ways to riff around 3 hits within two bars

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

Well, when you look at the title on the back of the LP, and it's a guy who's trying to prove himself as a solo songwriter with a pretty big publicity campaign, and the first phrase of the song is the title, and it's like 2 minutes before any other words... you're asking for trouble. But I never like it when songs are written that way.

It also just seemed dishonest... trying to pander to his fans' conception of him as "the underdog." I prefer "Big Enough" as a more brash but sincere statement.

Yeah, I don't know why he played this one on was it SNL? over some of the other good songs on the album. I love "How I Wish."

"The Worst" doesn't seem finished somehow.

Keith, be well - all the way, baby, all the way

Do you think Struggle was inspired by the Jimmy Cliff Song "Sturrgling Man"?

Chelsea Drug store, I do like a lot of the Keith Songs that are on stones ablums, but yeah I would add 'Sleep' Im not sure how I feel about that one.

Whip it up to name one. He lost most of his ability to write songs in the late 70s, early 80s. Slipping away is ok, the worst good but kinda pathetic. Very good songs on Talk is cheap, the title track, the duet cant remember the title, rockawhile etc. He can pull himself up now and then.

I was very surpised when he chose to perform "Whip it Up" one time when he was honored with some kind of lifetime award. He was there with the Winos and they played that one. He goes "Hey it's only Rock'n roll." because I consider this one one of the weaker jams too.

There's very little Keith solo songs I really enjoy - I don't particularly dislike them, but I can't say I'm interessted in them. There is a few good ones like Take It So Hard but most of them I don't really find very interessting.

that sounds like a Mick Jagger quote from the Mid 80's when him and Keith didnt get along. lol!! I can hear him saying something exactly like that.

The thing I find funny abuot it is that when they were feuding, publicly they were still very polite and "British" about it.

I like a lot Struggle. It seems to have a similar riff to One Hit To The Body? Do anyone have my same feeling?
I don't have a worst solo song but I think Talk Is Cheap is better than Main Offender.

I don't know about all of this.I think Sleep Tonight is cool.I like the way he worked in words like sympathy, memory, shadows etc.- seems to be reflecting on the Stones' past & the "I wish yoy babe, all the best, even if you turn out like all the rest" line is great.

Maybe you're expecting them to sound just like the stones? They're both very good albums, with their own mood.

The Worst is one of The Glimmer Twins most beautiful and poignant country rock songs ever................. Its so raw, so simple and so harmonious that it's glorious; not to mention its the perfect 2+ minute song. It's songs like this one that make them so great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't that for a "Living Legend" award? I think they only did it once.

I thought the same way 10 years ago. Then, it suddenly changed. You'll be reborn, you too, Reptile.
