Can someone post an mp3 of a live version?

And while on the topice, how were "Down The Road Apiece" and "Mona" in '81? I've never heard either.

Recorded in November & December of 1972. Released on the album Tattoo You on August 24, 1981

god only knows what treasures are deep in the can somewhere.

Tops is a great song, brilliantly produced and mixed. One of the best vocals performances from Jagger ever as well. I've always loved it.

Amazing - if it had made GHS, it would have been the best track on the mother!

True, but there would have been this "blank" track on TY....so, perhaps it's for he best the way it turned out....

Remember a couple of years ago when some writer said that there were people who were obsessed with Side 2 of Tattoo You. She was making fun of me (and a whole lot more of ya'll). Great slab o' music.

It certainly would have made GHS a better album. Mabe they should have dropped "100 Years" ago for it. It's the weakest track on the album IMO.

not in the version that was recorded for that album, it wouldnt. The backing track (including Taylor's guitar solo) comes from the GHS sessions. The TY version includes overdubs recorded in 1979, which included a new vocal with finished lyrics.

I am with Greenblues about "100 years" being the weakest track on GHS. I know many love this tune; it is not so much a "weak' track I just don't like that kind of track. Too Chelsean...

Oh man, the minute I wrote that I thought "Bad idea!" I think what I meant is that it is sort of a song that IMO is real old wordly sounding. Not bluesy.
