Some Girls Bar, Paris

Anybody have information on the bar 'Some Girls' located in Paris, France? (address, description . . .?) I'm en France at the moment and would like to check it out.

P.S. Any IORRers wanna meet up some time in the next couple of weeks there and drown our sorrows over the postponed shows?

P.P.S. Even if you think ABB is the "next Exile," you're more than welcome.

VERY NICE STONES DECORATION
THE ONLY PROBLEM IS THAT THE BAR IS VERY VERY SMALL

PRICES ARE VERY REASONABLE COMPARED TO THE FANCY LOUNGE BARS YOU CAN FIND IN PARIS

Been to Paris about 8 times - at least half of them for "Stones" purposes and I've never heard of this bar! Whats the story behind it?

The owner is a Stones fans, the decoration is made of Stones records, posters, photos etc.
In 2003, most of the gatherings after the Paris shows and during the days off took place there. But again, the place is VERY small.

Merci beaucoup, Doc - I'll have to make a point of checking that bar out next time I'm in Paris (unfortunately it wont be 2006). Nice review of the Bruce show on your website, by the way.

Here is a question? Is Some Girls up and running even when the Stones aren't coming to Paris. Oh by the way if you are on rue de Lappe, check out the dance hall just down the street. It is called Balajo. It is out of another time. Rue de Lappe is only a block long.

its in the bastille district - it was down the street from the hotel where i stayed for the '03 tour - funnily enough it was also the main hotel for the undercover people so i was in good company!

Hey little queenie,
This may sound like a stupid question, but what do you mean by the "undercover people?"

undercover is another stones fan club. here's the link:

it was a small group at the hotel which included the late nikki sudden. some friends from shidoobee were staying there too. i had just picked it because it was cheap!

Nikkibong, send me a ticket and I'll meet you - drinks on me to balance it out (since the dollars SO weak it will probably even out in the end) Give it some thought....

If you're talking about the SOME GIRLS period (Marconi Studios was it? I'll check Goggle/Yahoo later) I read that it's all gone... I don't think they've recorded at a Paris studio for ages - at Jagger's place in the Loire Valley but that's an in home studio......

It was the original internet Stones fan group, and for a long time was _the_ source for info about tours, shows, etc.

Its format (e-mail to subscribers) is almost certainly a key reason why it no longer leads the way, but I'll admit I have an incredible fondness for the group, and for the people in it who have become friends over the years.

Little Queenie and Highanddry, are you still reading there at UC?
(I'm a newbie there.)

LQ, which hotel was it in Paris? Curious.

I was in Paris in 98 and attended some of the Undercover parties, but I didn't stay at the group hotel, which was dubbed the Little Queenie as a nickname, interestingly enough. I'll ask one of the people who did stay there the name of the hotel...

i never subscribed to it - it just was random that i booked the same hotel. i can't remember the name of the hotel but if you're on the list, someone there will know. it was under $100 euros a night and was pretty low budget but it fit the bill. please post it if you do find out - i'd probably stay there again (though couldn't use their phone to make calls with my calling card).

in FF documentary, don't you see the Stones in Rue du Faubourg St Martin (in the 10th arrondissement)? Anyone knows what they were doing there?

Turns out the name of the hotel in 98 that everyone stayed at was Hotel Little Regina (thus the nickname Little Queenie)...on the boulevard de Strasbourg near the Gare de l'Est in the 10th arr.

A pleasant little 2-star hotel. See it at [www.cybevasion.com]
