Yeah, i'm on the North Shore, you?

I had the onstage seats for the second night, and you are right about the wider perspective, it was great to be able to see the whole place like that.

Oh cool. My sister went to BC.

I used to go to Brighton a lot, I had a boyfriend who lived there, sorta near The Last Drop. I used to go to hear a lot of bands at Harpers Ferry (actually that might be Allston, not Brighton).

Lukester....Leon was so incredible in those early days it is almost indescribeable...his shows would leave you exhausted. I saw the 76 show with Mary and that was when he began to "mellow" considerably. I did see him that same year at Willie Nelsons 4th of July Picnic in Gonzales, Texas back in the days of the 2-3 day music festivals. Saw him a few times in the late 80's (once with Johnny Winter)and not again until a couple years ago at a bar with perhaps 200 people. He has had quite a career and it was odd seeing this guy who would whip stadiums into a frenzy, playing in front of 200 people. But his music from way back then, still stands.

Saw Willie Nelson 2 nites ago. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band backed him up...they've been playing since 1966. Great show.

I was watching Willie when I thought, "I'm not a country fan but it's a privelage to be here."

Hey thor, thanks for the nice reply. Yeah, I have always been a huge Leon fan. Since the 1980's I've only seen him perform in bars, once with Edgar Winter, but mostly with a small band. Check out his website for touring info (http://www.leonrussellrecords.com/)
because I am serious, he sounded better last night than he has sounded in decades...it was a rocking band, not country or laid back like some shows I've seen....not that there's anything wrong with country or laid back....but he really cooked on his rocking hits....it was kind of funny because his second song was "Rollin' In My Sweet Baby's Arms," so I thought this was going to be another country-fied show, but then he tore into "Stranger In a Strange Land," and it just kept getting better from there.

Adrian, how was Maria live? I've never seen her perform, but I like her voice a lot.

I feel like making you Maria Mckee fans jealous.
In 1985 I saw Lone Justice play 3 times in a week in London, twice at the Marquee and once at the Mean Fiddler the middle show was my 21st birthday. My friends kept yelling for the band to play the Ramones song Blitzkreig Bop,they played it for us, we went totally nuts.
I always thought these gigs were the gigs later written about in the Nick Hornby book High Fidelity, when I read the book I was sure he was basing the American girl singer character on Maria Mckee at that time. God she was beautiful then, and only about 19 years old. Sorry old fart gets nostalgic.

3 times in a week! She really cast a spell on you, eh?

Yes, I had a bad crush on her, I remember being in a bar on Wardour Street in the afternoon, and she was in there with the whole band. One of the other band members, probably her boyfriend yelled at her and made her cry. I wanted to hit him,sad case eh,hahaha.

A big gang of us went to these gigs, but not just because of Maria Mckee but because Lone Justice were so great, they really rocked, if I remember rightly she sacked that version of the band right after the tour, they were never so good again.

I don't know their history. I just remember they came out strong and pretty much vanished. I was pretty surprised because they got a lot of press and described her as a great talent.

Two weeks ago I was invited to a "flaming lips" concert here in hamburg.
It was a fantastic concert, they are a terrific live-band.
I never had listened to a lips record before, but the next day I ordered 3 cds.

She was, as always, fantastic Cindy.
The latest mini-tour of Europe, was solo-acoustic.
I've been a fan, since her Lone Justice days- she has such a powerful, operatic range to her voice.

Her nickname is 'Little Diva' and she certainly comes across like one, with her onstage personna- kooky, twittering away to herself and the audience, at times endearing and touching, and at times confusing and baffling.

Criminally underrated and overlooked- she's never sold her soul to the corporates, treads an indepenedent path and keeps her integrity intact
- just one of the things i love about her.

A somewhat quiet year so far, though among those that people will have heard of, I've seen Springsteen (twice), Ryan Adams (twice), Eric Clapton and Morrissey.

Loads coming up for the rest of the year though!
