There's nothing tragic about it in my opinion. I like the song, and it could work live, it coulb be beautiful in fact. I look forward to it, absolutely. But on the other hand, it's not a typical Stones song, and should this be the ONLY ballad in the setlist, this pop tune... well, this is a let down. It means no As Tears Go By or WH or Angie (though I'm not crazy about this one), really none of these classical things, only SOL? No, it's not nice.

.....I don't know, I thought the Beatles did a pretty good job with SOL (Soldier of Love) so it should sound good when the Stones finally do their version....Don't you think?

Aw quit your bellyaching...nikkibong, do you ever have anything positive to say? I like Streets Of Love...give it a chance..you've been whining about them not performing enough off of the new album. Now you've got it and you're still not happy. I'd like to hear Laugh, I Nearly Died, but I'll take SOL.

Speakin' of Beatles it would be interesting to hear
the Stones perform I Wanna Be Your Man today...

He did so in Sydney. While introducing it, he literally apologised for playing what he called an "obscure" song. From the 3rd biggest selling album of their career and one that many people would consider to be their best ever!

Wouldnt you love to know who Mick thinks bought the Stones' albums before "40 Licks" came out? Since then, and especially from 2005 on, he seems to have developed some kind of musical equivalent of Alzheimer's when it comes to anything other than the major hits from his back catalogue

I say Jagger's brain is partly obsure(-d) by clouds,
when it comes to Exile & Sway.

Why don't we just give it a try? I mean, what is all this whining about? At least it's another new song, it's a ballad no one of us has heard live before and I#m sure it will work live much better than many other songs. I don't think they will play it every night, so if they squeeze it in some nights, that's fine. Would be fine to hear SOL one night, Angie at another show and Wild horses at the next one or As tears go by. So let's stop complaining about things that haven't even happened.

again, Gazza, good point about the musical alzheimers...

some of us are 'whining' about different things. Dont put us all in the same boat

I'm happy that they'll play some different ABB songs in Europe (I'd prefer others to SOL but I'll live with it). However, if thats the only ballad theyre playing and they drop As Tears go By, Worried About You, Wild Horses etc entirely because Jagger is too chickenshit to play two ballads per show in the mistaken belief that 50,000 people have Attention Deficit Disorder and will walk out in disgust because they get bored, then I'll personally have a shitfit.

Gazza - do we actually know that for sure now? It all started of as a rumour - someone said that Jagger basically apologised for playing Sway. But as far as I know, we never really had prove that he really apologised for it.
Anyway - if that's the case it's really a shame...

My apologies - it actually was Melbourne, not Sydney

I dont know about it being a 'rumour'. It was first posted by someone who was at the show, as far as I recall.

Maybe a little less Omega-3 on his morning cereals
would make him (Jagger) more open to ballads.

Hell, man; I wanna hear Memory Motel! Loving Cup! Etc!
Actually I also think they got their sh*t together at Sway finally.

I dont hate SOL; but it appeals to wrong segments of fans.
Like when I saw Quo and 10,000 people were singin' "you're in the army now,
wo-wo-wo... " (yik)...

In a Stadium Tour like this one, with several thousands of casual fans per show, I am sure that SOL will work far better live than Sway.

That makes no sense at all - Sticky Fingers has sold far more copies than A Bigger Bust has.

They played Sway in the Tokoy Dome, and according to Chuck's diary, it seemed to work well.
And as can be seen in recent setlists, they've not been choosing between Sway OR a ballad, but Sway PLUS a ballad (Tokyo1: Sway+As Tears Go By, Saitama: Sway+Wild Horses, Melbourne: Sway+Worried About You).
If Streets Of Love will be played in Europe, there's no reason why Sway would not be played at the same show.

Sway works better & better.

Best Marquess; you can't measure success in plain numbers:
then cow's sh*t would be the best food on earth, according to
5,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 flies, right?

SOL in Europe? Great. Count me in. Stones sounding like an ordinary pop-band? Good joke guys. A Stones concert is worse because Jagger sorta apologizes for an obscure song? Best joke in years. Who gives a hoot? There's no reason to be that dramatic. Mick always says shit in between songs. Every night on the Licks Tour it was "@#$%& great audience here tonight". Every time. Keef has the inevitable "It's good to be here, it's good to be anywhere" line. It's just to fill out some space. The songs they play are good and they play them like the masters they are from what I've heard from this tour so far. Music is what matters to me. Not some phoney-baloney Mick-Apologized-For-Sway hoo ha.

I know what it means. But why the wiseguy remark??? ;-)
I'll buy you a beer. You can either attend the concert in Horsens or Vienna or send me your home mail address.

I have never heard SOL on radio in my neck of the woods, nor have I ever seen the video.
And mind you, when Miss You first came out way back when,
it literally saturated the airwaves on all local radio stations for at least 3 months.
It was imbedded in the psyche.

Unfortunately, SOL is a far inferior song that the general public has no interest for,
a song that should have never been recorded by the Stones in the first place.
Maybe for a Mick solo album, but thats it.
And now they want to play it live in Europe?
God help us.

Why would they suddenly start playing it? It was a single 8 months ago and it hardly got any airplay over here (Holland). Why don't they just focus on the rock songs on ABB? I'm still waiting for Driving Too Fast!

On the other hand: every ABB live debut is welcome offcourse. They'll do Biggest Mistake as well, I guess.
