Re: Why only 18 songs in China

backstreet, now that the group is older, there appears to be a set of people that want 2.5 hours shows with 25 songs that are different every night, as well as bringing in new and untried material. U see, if you , or I , or anyone mentions that the past was even more rstricted with shorter set lists, we will be told how bold it was to it is with so much new material. Which is of course a bit of revsionsist crap, becuase in 75 I can remember people complaining they did not hear enough old stuff, and in 78, heralded for its presentation of so much of Some Girls in each show, like it or not, a lot of people were more impressed by the event then the show and the performance itself!
Am I happy I spent the money I did for onloy 18 songs...I guess not. Did I notice it while I was there, definitely not! I kept notes to give a review ( its coming paulywauly), but really did not notice the short set so much until I read people complaining here. Am I glad I was there, I most certainly am and would do it again in a heart beat. But to be 100% honest, the whole Shangahi experinece has been unreal for me, from meeting Ronnie, through getting hugged by and chatting with Barnard, to finally buying Blondee a drink after the show and smoking a ciggie with him at the bar. Also, in a nod to what BV has said, I think the show was also cut shorter by one song than planned. A fan next to me , as well as my sister, with better eyes, noted 17 songs before the break with two encore numbers, and both of these people were a bit surprised to have the break come an song earlier than expected. I can't tell you if that is accaurate, no way my eyes are that good.
