It sure makes a lot of sense to refer to ex "patriot" bankers...

I can't believe all of these excuses been made for them.

They have been undefendable since 98 when they pulled the UK tour for tax reasons. Oh here we go -it was the crew's money as well etc. etc.BULLSHIT !

IT DOSEN'T WASH !

A BIGGER CASH COW TOUR !

They need to stop before their already tarnished reputation is ruined.

did I just say that !

It sure makes a lot of sense to use a period after a sentence.I don't know or really care what kind of bankers are in China.Furthermore, this thread is supposed to be about the Stones.

When did you start correcting people's grammar/punctuation? Was it since the first time someone noted the way you spelled your Username? grinning smiley

i believe it's my fault, Some Girl, for noting what "ex-pat" is short for.
i didn't mean to get anyone uptight - i thought it was amusing, possibly because i am an ex-pat -
but i guess it wasn't to Theif. better luck next time ...

I'm not making excuses for them. I think thta my post on this subject is spot on. "We can't play Brown Sugar? Fine, then we only do 18 songs". Completely OK. The dudes saying that it's wrong to play 18 songs could be compared with the people who don't like Chuck Berry because it's only 3 chords. "Nah, if Berry had 4 chords THEN I'd like it. But 3 chords. NO WAY". I think that's really a dumb argument.

Even if Jagger quite arrogantly states that it doesn;t bother hi, because an enormous back catalogue to choose from? The logical cjoice would have been to replace the three songs with songs like She's So Cold & As Tears Go By? All songs they've played this tour.

The 18 setlist in combination with Jagger's remarks are weird, to say the least. Comparing a setlist to Hcuck Berry songs is complete nonsense.

First of all: Jagger is a rockstar. He's supposed to be arrogant. You may like it as long as it's safe, but whenever it becomes unsafe you hate it. You do like rock music?
Second of all: Why is my comparison complete nonsense? It's the same thing in my book. People say: It's OK for them to do 20 songs. That's fine. But 18 songs??????? Hang it up, stop now, throw in the towel!!!!! We have to haer about these ridicoulus demands that want them to stop. SPARE ME!!!!
Third of all: Why is it weird? He has his reasons I bet. He says they have 400+ songs to choose from. True. Who said that they would? Nobody!

with all due respect JKF, if they only play 18 songs at Horsens, maybe you too, will feel shortchanged and cheated.

I've said it before my friend, and I'll gladly say it again: I would go to a concert where they played Gomper ten times and left.

I know Jagger's arrogant, he's has every reason to be so. And he was right when he said that he didn't mind not being allowed to play a few songs, when the Stones have so many other songs they can choose from. But that remark becomes weird when they DON'T play any of those as replacements. And no, he never said they would, but that was the bottomline as every one understood it.

I never said they should quit touring (God forbid!). But for the prices they're charging 20 songs is bearly enough, let alone even less then that.

And yes, I do like rock ('n roll). Not about 'safe' or 'unsafe'. I don't get what you mean by those terms, really.

How old are you?

In my book Jagger is not arrogant, but self-confident. Maybe extremely self-confident, but not arrogant. I like rock music, but I can't stand arrogance. I am no masochist.

Your comparison is complete nonsense because I never heard of anybody not liking Chuck Berry because it's only 3 chords, but could possibly like his music if he would add a fourth chord. This argument is made up by you. It's totally constructed. People usually don't count chords, they like certain music or they don't.

And nobody demands the Stones to throw in the towel. It does not work this way. People who are fed up with a certain artist usually do not raise their voices in message boards. They turn their backs to these artists quietly by simply not going to their shows anymore. I have already mentioned this in another thread - I know quite a few people who don't go to see the Stones this time. They ask themselves why they should pay considerably more for more or less the same show they have experienced many times in the past.

Retired Dog: No my argument is not made up at all. Status Quo and the like (Berry even) have bitched about this. You can even see Status Quo saying it in their Top OF The Pops Special (Or some BBC Prime programme).
Nobody wants the Stones to quit? Do you ever read this board? I'm 24 btw. Why do you ask?

Mr. Eddie: What I meant by the remark about safe and unsafe was that rock is supposed to be dangerous. I think the Stones are exactly that. My point is that all these goth/metal/heavy bands that are here now have become safe. They have been for many years. There's nothing dangerous in it anymore. The Stones are, well, one of the most dangerous acts still. People are stuck in their own interpretation of how music can be dangerous (i.e. "You can't be dangerous with those ticket prices/setlist/such a huge stage/show"). I'll ask: Why can't that be dangerous? A band that's pushing limits, like the Stones, are the most dangerous. Even if it isn't much about pushing the music limits anymore (The Stones haven't pushed limits, other than the one inside their own band musically, since 1978 IMO. -----> Of course one could argue that a song like MAWGJ from B2B, or RFD are trying top push some limit). They are pushing limits on staying power, touring, stages etc. etc. today.

Does it make sense now?

See how they jump on ya, Kent...
All of those posters perfect gentlemen
and geezers one & one; but in a flock...

I say like Ablett: Hang in there!
I follow ya to the Gomper-gig;
and we & Keith can party afterwards
while the Counting Club'ers can shine a light
where the sun never shines
in some mock rock.

It may be way way too nerdy to count songs like some do.

Complaining over the number of songs of Shanghai show for four days now...

AMEN!
Man, this whole gripe about 18 @#$%& songs! It is interesting it is mostly from people who weren't even at the show! Man i spent a lot of hard earned cash, traveled a long distance, and had the adventure of a life time, saw a great show, and all because IT WAS THE STONES!

Jesus, it was a fantatic show.

Interestingly, they did more songs in Sydney, yet they still only played 1hr and 50 minutes.

People get over it, let it (me) go...and come here to enjoy and share the joy of The Stones
And if you weren't at the show, shut the @#$%& up!
That's an exclamation point.
