Did you take these pictures yourself open-g? I've never seen them elsewhere. Must be taken from 1st row. Good shots. Another thing I've never seen elsewhere (apart from on Mick in 76) is the things he's got over his eyes. What good are those things? Have sombody seen it on other people? It's not glasses in them either. (He also used it at the Hey Negrita-promo from May 1st 76.)
Yeah, I shot those pics & this is the first time they appear on the net In those days it wasn't a problem to bring in a case of photo-equipment. I actually stud on the case, much to the annoyance for the people behind me - but not long. the crowd was moving and its hard to keep balance while shooting pictures.
That was the gig when Keith landed on his butt. I've read that he supposedly slipped on a Frankfurter saucesage - I never saw one though. I was shocked because i thought he was overdosed, and I still believe it. It took him a whole song to get back on his feet. He was still playing - mind you.
I'm not sure if it was JJF or Honky Tonk Women update I checked it at time is on our side.
[Frankfurt, April 28, 1976.] The guitarist, songwriter and social arbiter to a whole generation of middle-class drug abusers, skids wildly on the polished, dragon-painted portable stage that the Rolling Stones are using on their ' 76 tour of Europe and takes a dive in front of 10 000 earnest young Frankfurters right in the middle of Jumpin' Jack Flash. It don't faze ol' Keith none, though. Ol' Keith just collects his legs until he's sitting in some kind of weird discombobulated lotus posture and continues whacking away at his guitar, not missing a single saw-toothed rusty chrome chord the whole time. It don't faze Mick Jagger either - Mick Jag-gur PERFORMING on the ramp that leads down into the audience from stage center like the tongue on the Stones logo. Jagger just flounces over to his fallen comrade, or something and he bends down oh-so-graceful and hands Keith his pick - which the maestro has dropped on his journey from here to there - and helps him locate his legs and jack-knife backs on to this feet. - Charles Murray, journalist, 1976

It's a famous fact that Mick whipped the stage-floor during Midnight Rambler. Very dramatic. The man who looks like he's f*cking Mick is Billy Preston. They did a dance at the end of "Outa Space", which was pretty horrible. A fag-dance. If you look at the "official" video-concerts like Paris 1976, they're not touching eachother, even though they're close. But in other footages, it's ehhh... not nice to watch for us who aren't gays.
Great photo s Open G!!When i was 11 or 12 ..I saw a whole show on tv with my sister ..my mother was not home..and we was suposed to sleep so we watced this concert and we were thrilled!!My siister looking out of the window if ma was comming!!!Wich show was it???

Hey, I've got a few songs on video from this gig, taken from private cameras, but don't we all.... Haven't heard this first Frankfurt show in listenable quality though. Open-g, are you sure it wasn't during Fool To Cry that Keith fell? I've read it so many places...
open-g, sorry but I can't upload stuff, old PC, and no cables. It's available on different DVDs as "Super-8, Germany tours 1973-1982" and similar titles. Quality NOT good, but, for me, highly watchable, especially the 73-stuff. I'd guess about 4-5 songs from Frankfurt.
After the 76 tour Mick didn't whip the stage with his belt any longer. MR wasn't played in 1978 and 1981/82. They did great performances of MR during the SW/UJ Tour but there was more red light show than Mick using the belt.
By the way, in 1972/73 he used his scarpet and not the belt ...
Great question. GREAT never before seen photos. Great thread. Questionable shirt (on Mick) Questionable eyewear (again on Mick) Great on stage OD by Keith (I definitely believe he blacked out for a moment,It's happened to me more than once)
This is the kind of stuff Stones fans live for.
Thank you. Keep up the good work. (Can't wait till Keith blacks out on stage again!)
