The decision of releasing any live recordings from the past has to be taken by both Mick and Keef. I have read statements from Richards that he sees no problem in "handing out" some unreleased gems. Some years ago both he and Ronnie said at different occasions that the band were about to release a whole box with unreleased gems! On the other hand, Mick personally put his foot down when the Dick Carvett show was about to be released with footage and sound of the band playing at Madison in '72. After reconsidering, he did at the last minute decide that it was ok, but without the Mick Taylor solos. As I see it, the problem narrows down to Jagger. One can only speculate on what reasons he's got for not wanting to dig into the past. My guess is that he has several reasons for it. Maybe Jagger simply just wants to focus on the present. Also he might not want the guitar duel (Wood vs. Vibrato
) to disturb what they're doing now. Unreleased live gems can probably constitute a good retirement. Besides, maybe he like to think about the fact that the band doesn't need to release any material that Allen Klein had his claws in. Thirdly, with not releasing any of the Taylor era live recordings, he certaintly makes this a big mysterious thing, and many of us (including myself) is definetely getting hysterical about it
There are probably many more reasons too...
