maybe bv should delete this thread because it seems that incorrect information can't be easily halted. I am sorry but I did not have a copy of the magazine to verify the info posted on shidobee where, on the other hand, no one pointed out the mistake.

So, Rick Rubin talked about a project with the Stooges, not the Stones. Is that clear now?

Of course a lot is related to the way you record stuff. Most of ABB was done with a pc and this, at least today, will always sound different from the old tape. Artists choice. Besides, This Place is empty, production whise, is one of the finest pieces of rock music recorded, ever. Listen to how the piano & guitar are recorded and mixed and balanced. Compare it to similar tasks in the past: melody or even losing my touch come to mind. You don't acheive these results unless you know your work damn well.

Went out and bought the new " 12 Songs" Neil Diamond albumn (produced by Rubin)

... guys and gals i have to tell you- it's a revelation.

I'm no Neil Diamond fan/expert, but this cd is fantastic...
Rubin's done a fantastic job - it's all killa- no filla
Track 4 "Evermore" is wonderful, i can't recommend this album enough.

A plea to Mr Jagger :-
PLEASE FORGET ABOUT PAST PROBLEMS - DROP THE EGO- AND PHONE RICK RUBIN!

I think for the way it was recorded ABB manages to sound pretty organic, tho several cuts fade out rather abruptly, imo - probably digitally edited to squeeze all 16 songs in 65 minutes and have them flow w/ very little space between songs

Rick Rubin is in the studio now with the Rolling Stones? I heard that they are recording with him in studios in various cities on their weeks off during the tour. Don Was is engineering.

That IS great news. I wonder when the record will be released?

The Stooges are actually working with Jimmy Miller as we speak.

I'd love to see the Stones working on numbers which includes more saxophone solos by jazz-artists like on Tattoo You...
And also a little more guitarsolos than on Bigger Bang...

Muddyw I do think there is some terrific guitar on ABB, & when Mick plays it really changes the mood & guitarists' roles (especially obvious on side 1 of Some Girls)...as far as jazz players Wayne Shorter made that beautiful contribution during the last couple minutes of 'How Can I Stop' (B2cool smiley

Are there 2 Jimmy Millers, because I'm pretty sure the one that work with the Stones died in the 80's.

My mistake, I just looked it up, he died in 1994, not in the 80's.
