I could swear that Californication DID win the Grammy, am I imagining things ? If so, I stand corrected. If it wasn't the grammy it was the Billboard award or some major industry award, not just a "sticker" they put on the album...
But if I'm wrong, I certainly stand corrected.
Regardless, it's their very best album, and anything but crap.
Since YOU consider it crap, you might compare your taste to over 800 "reviewers" on Amazon that give the album 4.5 stars out of 5.0... that makes it one of the most thoroughly "reviewed" albums on Amazon, probably. To maintain a 4.5 with over 800 people participating is quite a feat in itself.
Just to put that in perspective, Sticky Fingers has 180 reviews, and Let It Bleed has 140, both albums also scoring 4.5 out of 5.0

Give It Away is unquestionably one of the most awesome live songs anyone will ever hear in concert. Ranks right up there with "Satisfaction" from the Rolling Stones, "Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting" from Elton John, "Sunshine of your Love" from Eric Clapton, "Fortunate Son" Creedence, "Home Sweet Home" by Motley Crue, "Into the Groove" Madonna, "Know You Rider" Grateful Dead,... "Give it Away" is one of the all-time top 10 songs you'll ever hear any band play live... also has an incredible story behind the lyrics that you might check out. Very spiritual.
"It's just that demon life has got me in it's sway..."
