You're certainly trying very hard to "convince" people how "pathetic" they are, how "aweful" they are... so forgive me if I just cite over 800 Amazon reviews to the contrary. And 800 reviews for ANY ALBUM of any timeperiod is alot, as you may know.

I can give you polls where Britney Spears appears to be the best singer ever, with 10.000 votes. Where I live Nevermind and OK Computer are constaly voted as the greatest albums ever... I hate those albums.

Do you expect us to say: ooh, 800 people on amazon... we must be mistaken.

And dude, please read what I say. I said they made some good albums. They are pathetic compared to the all time greats.

Like Joe Louis walker is pathetic compared to Robert Johnson... but Walker is a still a fine bluesmusician... it doesn't mean he's pathetic in general. The Peppers are though... bloody aweful band they became. Thinking they changed the musical landscape, but the only thing they do is helping teenagers through their adolescence and repeating what they've been doing the last 15 years.

Damn, 800 people on Amazon... I have to become a fan now. 800 people... on Amazon that is... damn...

Bowie: Can you please be at least A LITTLE sarcastic ?? wow, damn, dude, "good but pathetic" damn dude.

And, again... are there ANY bands of the past 20 years that are still touring that you consider to be writing great music and putting on great concerts ? Or are you pretty much limited to the Rolling Stones and Robert Johnson ?...

and do you REALLY find Robert Johnson to be a great listen ?? Listening to him is like watching paint dry to me, I'd much rather hear Stevie Ray or Albert King or Eric Clapton or Johnny Winter or Freddy King or Elmore James or T-Bone Walker or about a couple dozen bluesmen before puttin' on an old RJ tape... but I'd be interested in why you think he's so much better than other bluesmen who I assume are "good" but "pathetic" compared to him. I know they occasionally play RJ tunes but their arrangements are alot more interesting than the original IMO.

In blues nobodys better than Johnson IMHO. It's the essence of blues. Few people can touch me that deep with music.
But it's not because I menton him that I dislike others. Howlin Wolf, Hooker, Waters, Broonzy, Patton, Walker,... all great stuff.

Bands formed in the last 20 years you mean? Nine Inch Nails, Reef, Black Crowes, White Stripes, BRMC, Oasis, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Charlatans, Ian Brown (although live he's terrible), I even like Destiny's Child, John Squire, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, George Michaels solo career, Primal Scream, Living Colour, Beastie Boys, etc... all great bands/artists still able to make great records.

If you're talkin' in general (acts that can still deliver in general) I can add: David Bowie, Lou Reed, Steve Winwood, Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Depeche Mode, Robert Plant, Ray Davies, Alice Cooper, Elton Fohn (yes, Elton!), Rod Stewart (if he wants to rock again), Prince, Brian Wilson, Bruce Springsteen, U2 and hundreds of others.

But I admit I can also still listen to people who were once great, but lost it or even to dead people. Good music is good music.

I actually took that as an insult, because I'm pretty damn sure I listen to more artists and bands than you do. I'm intrested in all music (except house, techno).
It's not because I'm not a peppers fan that I dislike music from the last 20 years. Don't use to term 'limited in music' towards me.

Bayou- You mention "Give it Away" and "Satisfaction" in the same breath. Your statements are proof the eating too many paint chips kills brain cells.

Bayou- Somethng tells me that you are Anthony Keidas or Anthony's mother. If you are not either of the above, will you invite me to your wedding? You could become the "Linda McCartney" of the Chili Peppers. Turn down the mike and the volume on the keyboards and just friggin' smile! She did it and so can you!

I'm damn tired of all this Chillipepper talk. Look, their lyrics stink. They're like random meaningless words thrown together. It's like he's hoping someone thinks there's some deep meaning behind them. Well, there isn't.

It's real simple...

1) By the Way Tour... millions upon millions of people attended that tour from '03 to '04... In fact the Peppers were the headline band for the recent Las Vegas Centennial Celebration, think that was over 100,000 people right there...

ANYWAY...

2) Give It Away is unquestionably their greatest arena-rocking song among MANY arena rockers...

3) I've personally seen this band many times and always found Give it Away to be an incredible live song...

SO, question, have you seen the band, have you heard the song ?

And, if you have heard it live in concert, but disagree that it's a Top Ten great live song, then what are your top tens ?

But if I've been eating some paint chips, so have all those other millions of rockers at RHCP gigs, and that's not bad company.

Kiedis calls them "word sculptures"... sometimes the lyrics have obvious meaning, otherwise they're like Salvador Dali or Picasso paintings with, as you say, no obvious meaning...

It's like he's

quite the opposite, they are deliberate word sculptures...

sound like word gibberish to me. But, some songs have a good beat. I don't hate them .I just don't see why you like them this much.

One thing should be clarified... as great as the RHCP is, they really only have one album that is pretty much solid from start to finish (Californication), and even that has a couple c-sides on it you could do without.

By the Way is a pretty fair album also but has that ridiculous "spanish" ringer on it (Cabron)...

All the other albums have from 2 to say 4 or 5 really good songs on them and the rest junk...

SO, to find the gems you have to wade through a fair amount of junk. But they have easily 25 to 30 unbelieveably great songs and I've just assembled my own Greatest Hits CDs of them.

Because of the trend towards "a few good songs and a bunch of filler" on most CD's you just have to do this anymore. Look at ABB from the Stones, I don't find that listenable from start to finish. Very few albums released in the past 10 years are anywhere near 100% solid like they used to be "back in the days".

Bayou is just crazy, that's all there is to it. To compare garbage Anthony Kiedis lyrics with Picasso's or Dali's art? Absurd! Buffoon!

Seriously, though, couldn't you confine your RHCP talk to some RHCP message board? I get tired of your trying to start threads about RHCP (not labeled OT) based on some tenuous connection to the Stones.

I'm not trying to start anything... it was an interesting anecdote about the Stones, IMO...

Then everyone starts gangin' up with their opinions on a band they've never seen in concert.
