Stones arriving, curtain going back, Under My Thumb etc, is just amazing.

HOLY CRAP!!!! Under My Bed is more like it.

Skipping through the songs, it's amazing how slow some of the intros are. Time sounds like it's the first time Keith's attempted to play it. Start Me Up is mummified. YCAGWYW is a bit of an ooze. She's So Cold is really good, though, which is bizarre. Honky Tonk is asleep in the dentist chair.

It sounds like the first show of the tour! So many weird notes going on. JJF is a mess!

There's 20 minutes of fails from the '81 tour recently uploaded to YT. Some near-trainwrecks for sure.

Wasn't really paying attention - 4K blu-ray can only be on a 4K player and properly viewed on a 4K TV.

What a sham.

Hopefully there will be a standard blu-ray disc included because, ha ha, I am not upgrading my TV just for one or two 4K discs!

Should be - most 4K releases by Kino Lorber offer also a standard BluRay disc.

UMT It's also impressive because Keith does a unique intro, a little longer and with an improvised solo.

My memory must be deteriating, I could've sworn ADTL was from Meadowlands N.J...?

Same here as far as The black Custom Tele (mine's an early 76 though), the 50's butterscotch Tele, Mesa Boogie and the 57' Sunburst Junior is concerned but haven't got around to get hold of the Sonny version (67 Tele) or a Tokai strat with a Floyd Rose. But easily the best sounding tour really. Don't like the Ovations though.

My father bought this VHS for me in London somewhere in the 80s. I was amazed how poor the sound was although the cover stated stereo.
About the same time I bought Hail, Hail R&R with Keith and Chuck B which had a really deep stereo sound.
So I guess it wasn't impossible to have decent sound quality on VHS in the 80s...

There's no announcement of the release date yet. It won't probably be released before March 2025.

Let's hope the sound is modified, it was a bit accelerated and the soundtrack was on vinyl and CD but they won't release it.

They're certainly can't release a new mix as the publisher is Kino Lorber. They certainly licensed only the original film and I doubt they even have access to the original tapes. And I like how it sounda especially the Meadowlands part.

i have around 1400 vhs tapes and can say that a good condition tape that was well made can have really good sound quality

and as a side note a good hifi stereo vhs deck is a great option for recording analog audio (much better then normal audio cassettes) even at ep/slp mode the audio is still pretty good (and 6hrs to one tape!)

I used to make mix tapes back in the day from cd to vhs at ep six hour mode with my JVC 4-head vcr. Sounded excellent and was perfect for extended listening pleasure before the days of ipods and digital streaming.

I also used to dub my favorite concert videos like my original LSTNT vhs to chrome cassette and played it all the time. Sounded most excellent. I actually preferred that film soundtrack over Still Life and still do.

Sometimes I miss those days. Good times.

i use a jvc vcr from 1984 for recording audio now

it really is great at it

I did exactly the same thing with LSTNT, with the DVD though, still have it in the car, yes I have a cassette player in the 2022 Car

Still have the original VHS ...and an old JVC Nicam VCR to give it a play from time to time.

Within the limitations of the format, the sound quality was OK...

...and certainly a lot more enjoyable than much of the early Digital stuff we soon had to put up with on CD in the years immediately following !


[Saw LSTNT at the cinema too when it came out . Went one afternoon and was the only customer in the house ! That was a pretty surreal experience ]
