Agreed. However, I'm not sure if that was what Antoine meant smiling smiley

I disagree with this, I think.

I believe the confusion arises from a lack of punctuation. In other words, how it reads...it feel's like it's missing a comma.

I would rewrite it as:

is from far, the worst album

So with the comma, we see the poster is saying he is observing/listening from far away.

One simple solution. Get Close. Then you won't be the "only one" making you feel the whole wide world's against you.

Wow! This thread had ‘circle jerk’ written all over it but most posters resisted the urge to whip it out. Bravo!

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

But then I realized, perhaps you meant this live circle jerk:

would be a bit unfair because my listening habits changed over the years. I used to buy a CD and play it many times. Not anymore.

Anyway, I'll try

1- Tattoo You, Voodoo Lounge
2- Bridges to Babylon, Dirty Work (I was 15 then, should not be in the top, but it was the first new album since I started to listen to the Stones)
3- Steel Wheels
4- Hackney Diamonds (although I've just listened to it a few times, it's not them, it's me)
5- All the others

1. Family
2. Money
3. The Rolling Stones
4. Money
5. Puns

1. Voodoo - it's bloated, but it was my first Stones album so...
2. Hackney - so good. Probably won't stay here with time, but starts pretty strong. Helps that's it's focused.
3. Tattoo You - I love this album, but it is sightly overrated I'm afraid to say...
4/5. Steel Wheel / Bridges to Babylon - One is sterile and one is a hodge podge, but both have charm.
(Wandering Spirit) - smiling smiley
6. Blue & Lonesome - another one helped by being focused.
(Talk is Cheap) - double smiling smiley
7. Bigger Bang - There's a good album here, but soooo many songs.
8. Emotional Rescue - Almost #10 just for Indian Girl alone.
9. Undercover - I agree it's underrated, but not compared to the rest.
10. Dirty Work - I like this more than a #10 vote would suggest.

I only did half of the assignment... so:
1. Voodoo - Love is Strong
2. Hackney - Whole Wide World
3. Tattoo - Heaven
4/5. Steel Wheels - Almost Hear You Sigh | Bridges - Out of Control
6. Blue & Lonesome - I can't quit you baby
(Wandering) - Don't tear me up
7. Bigger Bang - Let me down slow
(Talk is cheap) - Struggle
8. Emotional Rescue - She's so cold
9. Undercover - All the way down
10. Dirty - One hit

That's halfway simple ...

1. I've count only the clear ten album voters and vote's with a clear ranking
2. best album = 10 points ... last album per membercount = 1 point
3. "Stripped" is not included (no studio album)

If there is no mistake by me - thats the final result by 37 voters :
01. Tattoo You --------- 349
02. Undercover --------- 258
03. Hackney Diamonds -- 243
04. Emotional Rescue --- 229
05. Steel Wheels ------- 205
06. Voodoo Lounge ---- 202
07. Bridges To Babylon - 197
08. Blue & Lonesome --- 173
09. A Bigger Bang ------ 139
10. Dirty Work --------- 102

Can't thank you enough for your due diligence on this "make work" project Nankstone!

Not totally shocking, Tattoo You on top of the heap. Great to see Undercover widely admired and HD of course. For me the only slightly surprising one is the low ranging for ABB, myself preferring it to VL and Bridges.

An interesting exercise. Now for someone more enterprising than I to compare these top 3 picks to everything from the 70s!

What surprises me is how well Steel Wheels ranks. Since I've been reading IORR, the general consensus is that it is a so so album, some good songs, some not so, and everybody agrees that is sounds awful.

Please be kind. Antoine either meant "by far the worst" or "far from the worst." A simple mistake and not unforgivable like the current American obsession with using "based off" when they mean "based on."

However, it must be noted that HACKNEY DIAMONDS wasn't produced by The Stones. It wasn't even produced by The Glimmer Twins. It was produced by Andy Watt. Whether you love the album, abominate it, or are simply underwhelmed; I suspect we can all agree that HACKNEY DIAMONDS is far from the worst album ever produced by Andy Watt.

5.0 Tattoo You - Start Me Up
5.0 Hackney Diamonds - Angry
4.0 Bridges to Babylon - Saint Of Me
4.0 Undercover - Under cover of the Night
4.0 Blue and Lonesome - Everybody Knows about my good thing
3.5 Steel Wheels - Mixed Emotions
3.5 Voodoo Lounge - You got me Rocking
3.5 Emotional Rescue - She's so Cold
3 Dirty Work - One Hit
2 A Bigger Bang - Oh No not you Again

I think a couple of great Stones albums where lost to Wandering Spirit, Talk is Cheap and Main Offender

You don't buy CDs anymore it reads.

Are you saying, without saying it, that your listening habits have changed? You now stream a record for many times?

That's all that's left other than vinyl. How you listen to a record, regardless of format, has changed.

OK, after the last votes I updated again.
mailexile67's voting could not be taken into account because it only contains 9 albums ...

Here is the final result after 40 votes:
01. Tattoo You --------- 377
02. Undercover --------- 276
03. Hackney Diamonds -- 264
04. Emotional Rescue --- 248
