I'm a romantic and i like to think they would meet anyone because they were destined to be friends and make music together but in the case the Stones didn't exist our popular culture would look really different.

Even to this days Young singers take inspiration, Harry Styles has been trying to be Jagger-like, for example.

Personally...

For starters my high school sweetheart would not have broken up with me. I skipped her birthday to camp overnight at my first Stones concert - Akron Rubber Bowl, July 11, 1972. I was 18, she 16.

I would not have learned to work Ticketmaster like a pro and get front row seats to tons of other concerts.

There are 12 cities, 4 states, and 1 country that I never would have experienced.

Most important...I would never have learned guitar or had nearly as much fun in life. And, um...that also led to a pretty good sex life when I was young.

They would have met elsewhere for sure. They are, after all, twins, drawn to each other by destiny.

Another parallel universe: what would have happened if Keith Richards hadn't been holding a Chuck Berry record in his hand?

That's what I've always read too. But that's not what it says in Keith Richards' Life.

They would not have been The Rolling Stones if they hadn’t met Brian.

Agreed! ... and similarly, Brian would never had been the RS if he hadn't met Mick & Keith

Mick would be a hedge fund billionaire & Keith would be a musician living on the dole. & Keith would be happier.

Jagger and Richards would have been equally famous though.

How do you know that? If they hadn’t answered Brian’s invitation to join him how do you know they both would have been in the same band .If they hadn’t been in the same band they wouldn’t collaborated on the great catalogue of songs they wrote together

They were already in the same band, a band that merged with Brian's. They could have gone separate ways, but theu didn't.

We've got nothing to eat
We got nowhere to work
Nothing to drink
We just lost our shirts
I'm on the dole
We ain't for hire

- Mick would be a happily retired successful businessman
- Keith would be a happily retired bluesman
- Only poor Bill would never had so many chances to shag girls

Because Jagger and Richards were friends, playing music, trying to get a band going, and hanging out in the jazz clubs of London trying to get a gig. They would have ended up in a band one way or another, and their huge talents would have made them seccesful one way or another.

They answered an add by Brian, but it could have been anyone's add they answered too.

The same with McCartney and Lennon: they were so hugely talented that they would have been succesful anyhow. They didn't need Ringo or George to become famous.

I found the solution : see my post on p.1. The only difference with a career in the band would have been to bribe the London Vice squad regularly.

Yeah I think you're right on that Mathijs.

And it's one thing to say they were hugely talented, but a lot of people are and never make it. There is an immense drive required to be and stay successful and I think that those duos had that...perhaps they needed to stay duos to achieve it but those teams of two would have been successful in the industry in one way or another.

They just had it in them.
