How sad! He was a great contributor to the site. We liked a lot of the same songs. Plus he single handed my kept my name on the front page of this forum. Rest in peace Hairball. You will be missed!
Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.
Thx for letting us know, I had suspected something as he suddenly dropped off.. One of the only ones on here I actually met in person (Glendale 2019) and we had a good conversation there
It's unbelievable he seems to have died just a couple of days after Angry was released and never got to hear the new album he had waited for so long...
oh no... can't believe this. so sad. I was wondering what happened as I realized he was not posting for a while. Terrible sad news. Rip Eric, condolences to his family and friends
Hairball’s passed? One of the greats have left! And on September 9 you say? That means he likely saw the Hackney Empire press junket with Fallon, and left us three days later. I take comfort in the fact that he likely knew something good was coming up, and he also likely heard Angry…
So sad to hear. And he was far too young to go. Once I defended him here when he was treated unfairly - which sadly happens now and then on internet forums. Safe journey, Eric.
It took long for me to understand that he was a big music lover and to respect his distinctive opinions. In fact I strolled his posts away for many years. But then the last 2 years I realized that he was not a negative or strange poster but one with a very sensitive and therefore distinctive way of looking at life. Instead of RIP my personal choice: EYNW (Enjoy Your New World.)
I'm sad to hear this, didn't know him personally but like others on here we probably know people more through what they write than anything else, the written word is incredibly revealing, Hairball always made me laugh with his troll like banter, always criticised the Stones while offering optimism in the same post. He will definitely be missed.
Yeah, there probably aren't any poster here that could drive me more nuts, or I could have not disagreed more with in regard to almost anything - and for years we did best to ignore each other's posts - but I feel really down now. He like belonged to the constitution of this site. Actually when he stopped posting it felt odd because I, like I guess everyone, was so used to his daily posts. Felt like something was missing. And damn, he not just missed the new album he had counted so long, but also the Macca track (and in a way he was always right with his annoying 'hit the wall' comments). Does not sound fare.
I only knew him via his posts here. As a person - outside the moniker and presence here - he surely was something much more and else. Social media just sometimes makes communication so difficult. I just checked his site and he was a great artist. I like his works.
RIP Hairball
