Gary Clark Jr. is awesome. I saw him last summer... 8th row.

(And there was a drunk couple 7th row, other side. The guy was stupid and noisey, "Gary" this and "Gary" that, like they were pals and the concert was all for him. Clark didn't put up with him for long. "HEY. Don't be yelling at me all night. Motherf*cker." To laughter, applause, and gratitude from the rest of us.)

I love it!

The closer you get to the opening night without openers being named suggests it'll be the bloody Ghosthounds again, as they pay the Stones to be their support act.

Business to the utmost. smoking smiley

Gonna see the Feelies tonight in DC and been catching up on them. They released an album of all VU covers last year. Read the below and it made me wistful for the days when some rock stars gave a shit who opened for them and it wasn't just about who'd write them the biggest check.

... Lou Reed first linked up with the Feelies at a holiday party for Long Island’s WDRE FM. [Guitarist] Bill Million remembers the party and says, when the band received their invite to perform, “I think it was me that said, as a joke, ‘If Lou plays a song with us, we’ll do it.’” The next thing they knew they were onstage together.

“We were playing those songs at this really incredibly fast tempo! And he just seemed like he really enjoyed himself. Because of that he asked us to go on tour with him.”

Reed heard something he liked in the Feelies and tapped them to open for his 1989 tour in support of his New York album.

Million remembers Reed as “very supportive of the Feelies,” and says they shared dinner with him before most of their concerts together. “There was one show,” the guitarist recalls, “where his soundcheck was running longer. They informed him that they would have to probably skip our soundcheck, and he just said, ‘If the Feelies don’t get a soundcheck, I’m not playing.’ So, that was our relationship with him.”

With just 2 weeks to opening night and still no openers announced, I’m beginning to wonder if maybe there won’t be any? Especially as most of the shows have an 8pm start time.

Wasn't there one announced for Vancouver as well, a long time ago?

Somebody that went to see The Struts there said the band made some mention of coming back and opening for a major show over the summer.

How about Mick's brother?!

He's got some great songs.

I saw him live 30 years ago at the Bottom Line. I'v posted elsewhere about that night so i won't bore you all again with the story, but i was a great night.

I know it'll never happen, but that would be a fun double bill.

None that I know of! If there was, I'm sure myself or Treacle, Beasty or Babyblue would have said something!

Looks like their European tour ends in late June and the US tour doesn't start until late July so maybe there's a possibility.

Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks on me on a Monday morning. Somehow I remember the Vancouver opening act having been announced, but guess not. As you were!

With the rumors swirling around Gaga, what if there's no opening act for the other shows, because it's going to be her, and she's guesting at all those shows???! That would be a sweet opening act!!

Agreed.
Past those three shows, this is a really good list of openers!
