I finally read where some journalist gets it. Bill Janovitz' Leon Russell biography is really good. He said Wyman played in front of the beat, Charlie behind it. Exactly. That's the wobble encasing Keith. The whole Stones sound.

How important he was for the musical DNA of the group is even more noticeable since he is no longer there.

Thinking of Seraphina and Charlotte today, who lost Charlie and Shirley in the last 2 years. And missing the hell out of Charlie.

Can’t believe it’s been two years. R.I.P. Charlie, and thank you, for everything.

From the Charlie Watts Estate as well as The Rolling Stones:

"Today, with much love, we remember our dear Charlie. We miss you everyday"

From Keith Richards:

" 'Charlie Watts was my bed. I could lay on there, and I know that not only would I have a good sleep, but I’d wake up and it’d still be rocking” (2021)' Miss you, Charlie"

From Ronnie Wood:

"Remembering Charlie with respect"

"White drummers don't groove, with the exception of Charlie Watts".

Right after I heard of Charlie passing away two years ago, I cranked this tune up to 10 and will do so on every anniversary of that very sad day.
While I shed a tear of sorrow on that day, now I shed tears of joy whenever I hear this tune while thinking of all the enjoyment Charlie brought to this world.
Yes there's plenty of other great examples of Charlies drumming, and indeed too many to pick just one definitive track, but this one always hits the spot for me.
Takes me back to my youth spending hours at the turntable enthralled and captivated by Charlie and the Stones thumping away...rocking and a rolling...
Let the tradition continue, along with all the great memories of Charlie...

Great pick. Something really definitive and pure about his performance and sound on this one.

Although "get over it" is a bit odd. Charlie's death has zero to do with you.

The Rolling Stones have moved with.

Right. Damned right. Nothing to worry about.
Still, for the sake of it.
Fans are entitled to have feelings, and also preference and taste..
I have seen the Stones with Taylor on lead gt, and I still regret this band
I have seen the Stones with Wyman and I still regret this band
I have seen 67 times the Stones with Watts, I'm emotionnaly struck by his absence, how good Steve Jordan is (and he is)
That's it.
The Stones moved on, but fans have the right to cheer and cry....

I get feeling like you were picked on. GasLight has spoken on the board more than once of having lost his wife a few years ago. Seen from that perspective, responding from a place of genuine grief where you lost someone you loved who also loved you is very different from missing your favorite drummer who you didn't know in real life and who didn't know you. Sometimes people aren't being judgemental or a tough guy, they're just being human and reacting.

When a loved one, whether it's a family member or one of our heroes, is gone forever it's always painful and everyone experiences mourning differently.
I believe that one must have respect for every way of living it.
Charlie didn't know me but I miss him.

I won't write anything else about it

That has nothing to do with his wife. That has to do with him being rude towards someone who experiences their loss the way they do. That was unnecessary. Not to say, that was inappropriate in the thread where people supposed to express their feelings towards Charlie's loss.

So report it like it says below every post. Don't prolong it or conduct a campaign.

Thanks CR!
That was really fun to listen to (Several times). Also, real history. Sort of Charlie unknowingly preparing for the "big thing", which actually started on that same evening in the Marquee Club. An amazing journey of well over 58 years, which we almost took for granted until he left us all behind on August 24 2021.
A really tough experience, not having Charlie around in 2022 (despite Steve's great job filling in the gap!)
RIP Charlie!

The other day in honor of Charlie I was checking out some music videos of him. Here's a nice toe tapper that really showcases Charlie in his prime from the Gimme Shelter outtakes:

Check him out at 1:45-2:15 & 3:22-3:48. It's not complicated to figure out how irreplaceable he was to the Stones sound.
