This sounds really good!
I didn't like the studio sound post-SteelWheels, but this sounds really strong. Fat drums, delicious bass. Awesome!

Agree the style of the riff is very soul suvivor, and its cousin It must hell. Andrew Watt must be a fan of Exile!!

To me, this snippet of "Don't Get Angry With Me" doesn't sound anything like the faint music we hear in that X/Twitter subway-entrance clip. I'm curious if two different songs are being teased.

Ride like the wind at double speed.....

Sounds so familiar I can’t remember what it was they did that had same sound. Likely one of the things they released as additional stuff since Licks in 2002. One of the songs released from then to now sounds just like it lyrically as far as phrasing for Mick goes. I will go thru my stuff and see I’m sure I can find it.

On another note I’m glad I was t only one who after waiting forever to download you got the “500 Internal Error”

It reminds me a lot of Keiths version of "Learning the game"

Yeah it sounds a bit like that extra track on Licks, let's see, "Don't Stop", no, "Keys to Your Love", no, "Losing My Touch", no and..."Stealing My Heart", finally remembered the title. Wow it hasn't aged well, hope the rest of "Angry" is better !

"So dull", "a nightmare", "piles of shit", "jazzy, boring crap" and I could go on and on: all verdicts from self-confessed diehard fans over the last few days on Stones-recordings of various vintage, literally hours away from a new Stones release after having waited for years on end. You're weird. Hopeless, actually. I mean, who needs foes when you've got fans like that. Me, I'm happy. I'm excited. There's gonna be a brandnew Stones-single very soon and if it's as satisfying as "Living In A Ghost Town" I'll be even happier. Good times ahead.

That's not what I though what the discussion was about at all.
I think Doxa's summary is more to the point, even though he and I have different taste. I agree with him that Keith's latter day songs would have belonged better on his solo albums.

The discussion (slightly off-topic) was whether the new Stones album should be "half as good" as "Thief In The Night". One can go on various angles with that question, as clearly people did, depending on whether you like "Thief In The Night" (which I do and some people don't), whether you like latter day Stones albums (which I am not interested in but most of this forum is), etc...
My personal opinion about this question I would hardly call the typical opinion of most people on this forum, which seems to be more like Doxa's.

In any case, I could understand that people who are interested in the upcoming Stones release are hoping for something different than Keith's solo albums. In that sense, it might be more useful to compare the upcoming album to latter day Stones songs such as Ghost Town etc...

Kinda like new Metallica in that it definitely sounds like the band, has big production, but isn't gonna challenge their top albums. Not a bad thing at this point in their careers, actually, I'm very pleased. I'm probably basing too much on a 19 second clip, though.

Meh.

Yeah, its too hamfisted to be Keith which would either be choppier or more fluid, a bit of space for silence. Mick must really like the Soul Survivor riff.

cool trick the page

Like a slow version of Let´s Work, Charmed Life - Mick stuff. The two-chord structure...The sound is great! Fat!

so they are angry with Andrew Watt but are depending on him and therefore need to get close to him…?

At least Andrew Watt got Composer and Lyricist credits at the 3 songs according to the databases of the rights-societies.
