I just found out that the great Rita Lee passed in May this year.

Such a great artist.

In the early 90s I accidentally heard her cover of Its Only Rock And Roll and ended falling in love with her music.

Check her out if you don't already know her!

it`s only Bossa and roll but i like it spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
She had a very long career and influenced many Portuguese language artists.
Considered the queen of rock in Brasil (not Brazil as she says in a song), and opened for the Rolling Stones show in 1995
Lovely Rita

Thank you for the post. It's very nice to see her being remembered here. She was the undisputed queen of rock'n'roll in Brazil in her own right.

From her discography of 30+ albums, Fruto Proibido is one of my favorite rock'n'roll albums of all time. There's also a live recording of Brown Sugar which is not bad.

The only time I thought I would have the chance to see her performing live was on the Stones' first Brazilian concert, in São Paulo. Unfortunately, her concert was cancelled due to the heavy rain. A portion of her Rio concert can be seen here:

Very sad news!

Wonderful woman and amazing artist!

Her Bossa'n' Beatles album is really great!

R.I.P. Lovely Rita!

Didn't know anything about her, but as I started googling her, the first video I was offered was "Lanca Perfume" from 1980. Trendy stuff back then: people roller skating there, but what was more: she had a cool looking white t-shirt with a picture of Mick and Keith on it...thumbs up

RIP Rita.
