Dire Straits. Whitla Hall, Belfast, December 1979.

Not many bands came here in the 70's, so it was a bit of a big deal even though its a relatively small venue (about 1,800. They played two nights)

They were touring behind their second album, 'Communiqué'

Bizarrely I recall them walking onstage to the strains of 'Gimme Shelter' playing over the PA system. A good sign.

KISS, 23 January 1978 Pembroke Pines/Miami Florida. Maybe a joke to some people here but it was glorious in my opinion.

Beatlemania 1982. They were tops back then, but there's better tribute bands now.

Even Johns and his H-Bombs in 1986, Guns and Roses in 1987 are the first two I remember, plus some punk banks which name I do not recall.

The Powder Blues Band 1981, followed by Doug and the Slugs 1982, and then the Head Pins 1982.

Pure Canadiana.

Not a lot of other choices in the small town where I lived.

Then, the big trip to Vancouver to see the Kinks in 1982 (oops, just checked, I guess it was Sep 81!). We were GA on the floor but got so sweaty and pushed around during the opening act we crawled our way outta there and into some seats in the stands.

Herman's Hermits Ohio State Fairgrounds August 1967. There was an opening act that I paid no attention to. Waiting impatiently for the Hermits.

I grew to love The Who after hearing The Who Sell Out. They became one of my top 3 bands. But I never got to see them live. Then about forty years after the Hermits show I discovered that the opening act was The Who. I didn't know it at the time.
