Seemingly, The average UK train driver earns £54,001 per year. Out of curiousity, is that a lot in the UK?

I see the Norwegian aircraft technicians earn round £64.000.

Inflation is a bitch, and it's sad that workers must strike.

Average pay in the U.k. is around £30,000 a year.

Thanks. I wondered, because the train drivers pay in the UK is round the average salary over here. A little less, perhaps.

There's a good reason for that though is there not? Not exactly cheap to live there is it ??? sad smiley I believe they also tax you all rather heavily too.

Still, I enjoyed both my visits to your fine land, especially my 1st, in 2014 smiling smiley

I reckon it will be possible on Friday. However, there might be delays because of the strike the day before.

Friday will be better, percentage wise.

I’m still hoping to catch a train from Brum to London on Friday.

Just announced unsurprisingly that talks have broke dow. Train strike looks like’s it’s happening on Saturday.

Tomorrow 23/6 all trains on Heathrow Express stop at 18:30.
Had bought ticket, but with my flight landing 18:20 it's no hope.
It was very easy to call them and get the 25£ back on my bank account.
Hope to find someone to share taxi costs with or a buss to Paddington.
Well it will be ab. 48 hours til Stones start at HP.... so I might make it walkingcool smiley

All the Best!

I will travel by Eurostar Train from Bruxelles to St. Pancras, London on saturday morning.
I recieved a message ‘Your train is scheduled to run on Saturday 25 June although may be disrupted on the day of travel’. I really hope I won’t get a long delay..

Saw it on the early evening BBC news here in the UK, and just keeping fingers crossed the trade unions involved will come to their senses and call it off. confused smiley

Trade Unions come to their senses ? Steady on old sport ! There's such a thing as "faint hope", and then there's "pie in sky fantasy-land" ! I rather think the latter applies here. Don't see much hope of them coming to their senses (as you put it) anytime soon. Apparently they're threatening more strikes in July ...

1970s re-run !

Don't know what other folk are doing, but I've arranged accomodation that is walking distance from Hyde Park on Saturday 25th, and a bus to the airport on Sunday the 26th. I know the 26th is not an official strike day, but I wouldn't trust the trains to be operating a full service on Sunday, so I'm being cautious. Friday 24th is also not an official strike day, for those of us flying into London Gatick, trains should be running that will get us into Victoria.
One way or the other, we'll be where we need to be on the day ....

Don’t panic. There are trains and tubes running albeit less frequently. The Piccadilly Tube Line all the way to Heathrow is running. If all else fails, you can get to Central London on red buses with a change or 2. Use this excellent online tool to plan your journey :

Looks like trains from Gatwick to Victoria run every 30 minutes tomorrow.

And now British Airways ground staff at Heathrow have voted to go on strike too. No dates as yet but likely to be next month so Hyde Park Stones gigs not affected.

How did this turn out today June 23? I want to take Heathrow Express in on morning of show day and I'm not clear if this is possible. Some sources say service will still run, but on a reduced schedule. Another local has told me it won't even be possible to transit into town from the airport other than by bus/taxi/uber

It’s not flight crew who’re striking - ground crew only and only at 1 airport, though their main hub. People that have no choice but to live at reasonably close proximity to where they work, which happens to be an expensive area and they are unlikely to be well paid so inflation will be eating away at that like with the rest of us so perhaps their grievance is legit. British Airways and other mature airlines have struggled to cope with the rise of low cost rivals.

Just got to Gatwick. northbound trains are no longer running (22:00). A girl just told me they’ve been waiting in the taxi line for 3 hours. Taxis into the city are 150 pounds The schedule says there’s a bus in about an hour but someone else told me they’re not reliable and have been getting cancelled.

It’s a shitt show

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Today we were advised to complete all journeys on the District Line by 1830.

By 1840 they closed and padlocked our local station.

The advice is the same for Saturday so PLEASE do not rely on the District Line early or late. Tomorrow Friday should be “normal” if you are heading for Islington to see the IORR band (and you should)

Both the Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth line did run from Heathrow (same platform) to Paddington. Reduced service (30 minute intervals).

All was easy for me. Landed in Heathrow, got through customs using the new technology although took visiting 2 kiosks to get it to work. Made it to Heathrow Express platform and missed 2nd to last train by 30 seconds. Caught train appx 6:15 PM to Paddington. Ten minute cab ride to Airbnb, checked in and now trying to get rest in before tomorrow.
