oh how I was hoping for this official release to sound like side 3 of "Love You Live" - it's a CLUB SHOW from 1977 - why make it sound like it's from a recent arena show ? of course I'm only going by the 2 tracks they stuck out so far -

the contrast between side 3 and the rest of Love You Live is what makes it so great to me -

as far as purchasing it - i've had good luck buying from uDiscover in the US on these last couple of box sets - there is usually a pop up sale and a coupon code and it's the cheapest route i've been able to find to get this stuff - the "pay in 4" option makes it hurt a little less too-

i'm glad they are sticking it out regardless of the reverb

So Is it cheaper buyin a bundle that only the four neon vinyl without slipmat or t-shirts? Do I miss something? Can anybody clarify this offer with the bundle?

You can compare the collections here: [TheRollingStonesShop.co.uk] , [TheRollingStonesShop.com] .

The more I listen to the two tracks we've gotten, the more I like it. Rip this Joint has a kind of country rock feel and sounds almost ZZ-top-ish. Really cool.

re: the arena sound, I find that after a couple of minutes it wears off and I don't hear it that way anymore.

Same here! Bill and Stu are shining on this recording.

The piano does sound really good. Is that Stu Playing? I assumed it was Billy Preston, but it does sound more like straight-ahead boogie playing that Stu would do.

The Stones have always played great gigs, alternating with mediocre gigs on all the tours they've done.
Well! I have never seen a concert of the Stones before '89, but I know who has seen and followed them around the world since the 60s and has always confirmed this to me. But no one has ever come out of a Stones concert disappointed! This is their great strength!
They best interpret the rock'n roll philosophy which is based on fun, playing for fun and entertainment, not for the big solo, of course if you're lucky and the Stones are on one of those nights ... well! Then it's ecstasy!

Agreed - it's insulting to both Bill and fans alike.

Bill Wyman was an integral part of the band that played at the El Mocambo club. To exclude him from the artwork is in very poor taste. It's a blemish on what seems like a truly great release.

Especially the target audience for this release. We're not the crowd that just wants to hear the greatest hits.

Maybe that's the agreement? Bill's likeness not to be used in promoting new releases.

I mean rather than get our knickers bunched up and just assume the worst.

Don't know...Still Life I played to death when it has been released in '82...nothing wrong with that album or the '81/'82 tour at all I think.
Probably the last real rock'n roll tour by them...without numerous sidemen and women...
Crossfire Hurricane documentary ended just with that tour if I remember correctly...says a lot...

Yes, just checked this out today. Indeed, April Wine opened both shows, and recorded them and put out a live album the same year.

But what I want to know is - does the album contain recordings from the March 4th show? Or did they have “recording problems” too?

Fake statement.

1981 tour was huge. Your Fox News ego won't change history. Get over yourself.

Fox News? What are you even talking about.
Nobody said it wasn’t huge. It just wasn’t very good.
Second song of the concert and the crowd was acting like they we’re at a college lecture. The whole tour was like that.
