as much as charlie is missed and just cannot be replaced steve is doing a great job, and it might sounds blasphemic, but steve playing a bit rockier/heavier, pushing it and adding some beef is not only bad for them. i think the band sounds great, seems like being not in their comfort-zone due to very sad reasons and also because they play for charlie makes them play extra concentrated and focused.
Also not having any cymbal on the left hand side just like Charlie in the 70sQuote

I won't comment on the sound from a cellphone Facebook feed. I thought it was interesting that Steve had the front head of his kick set up like Charlie: hole dead center. As a drummer, I will say this is an unusual set-up these days. Drummers who port their front head typically put the hole off to the side to preserve some resonance from the head. The dead-center hole was popular in the 70s & 80s. I also noticed that Steve came up off the high-hat on 2 & 4, just like Charlie. Seems to me that they're trying to keep some of the "Watts sound" while still letting Steve do his thing. I approve.

I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if Brown Sugar has been shelved, you know. It’s such a crazy time. How ridiculous if this is the case, though

I like the new version of Paint It Black.
It's less a Polish polka now, it's got more menace, dynamic and swing this way.
Also, Sasha Allen is a good replacement of Lisa Fischer.
Overall, I think they sound pretty good this time.
I think it could be a nice tribute from them to retire one warhorse for Charlie.Quote

There could be multiple reasons why the song wasn’t played.Let us see if it returns sometime in the upcoming shows.

Paint It Black sounded a bit messy, they are not in perfect sync with each other so to speak. It will probably improve over time.

I'm watching all these clips from St.Louis and see how important Mick is to the band. I know we all love Keith and Charlie, the spirit and heart of RS but Mick is just amazing and thanks to him they carry on.

I wouldn't overdramatize the lack of Brown Sugar, it's probably going to be back in a week (more than enough time for several cancel culture meltdowns of course)

No, this new version is wrong, maybe it can improve.

Wonder what would have been the last time they did not play Brown Sugar at a stadium show.

I don't know. It's not like it's a song that rotates in and out of the setlist. Prior to last night, it had been played at every Stones concertsince Altamont.

Not true. It was not played in Shanghai 2006 and a couple of The Paradiso shows in 1995 at least.
