I’m so sad, because he was not only my hero, but a genuinely deep down lovely man. He was a very rare breed, and he is sorely missed. He had a truly wonderful life, and he died surrounded by his family. He held onto my shoulder once in The Bulls Head in Barnes,a jazz club, always so charming, both dry in humour and sweet in nature, A Gentleman. Truly Rest In Peace.
Just heard it on the 7pm news. So there was a reason why they didn't tell us what exactly the "successful (medical) procedure" was he had to undergo. I already feared not all was alright. Yes, end of an era. The only consolation is to think what great people he will be jamming with now up there. RIP Chawlie.
I was about 8 years old in 1964 when I first heard of you and now at 65, I send my final goodbye to you sir. The lights are now turned out and time to sleep for eternity. RIP....
Oh No! he gave us everything! thank you charlie. i live for the stones and you have been a reason why. the best! my love of the band and your drumming will only grow stronger. you brought immense joy to millions of people. thank you, thank you, thank you.
R.I.P., Mr. Watts, thank you for all the great music you shared with the world. My deepest condolences to your family, friends, and the rest of the band.
Thank you for being an essential component of what has bought me so much joy over the twenty plus years. You were a fabulous drummer, and, by all accounts, a fabulous man.
After yesterday afternoon’s overindulgence, I wasn’t going to drink today. I’ve had to pour one this evening, however!
Very sad...He lived a good life and was one of a kind...He will live on within the music of the Rolling Stones...The heartbeat of the Stones has stopped....
I took this picture of Charlie in Phoenix. I think it really shows the joy he felt playing. It was a magical concert - maybe the best one I ever attended. So sad today, but happy for the memories!
