I do miss Charlie. He got the best ovation when they did the credits during the shows.

I am so grateful I went to the last show of his in Miami.

They have lost a step without him. Steve is close but it's not the same vibe.

I was in Brooklyn doing my sales route at the time and pulled out my phone when I pulled into a parking lot when I got the news.

I felt deflated, sad, you name it. Charlie was the heartbeat behind my favorite music. He gave it wit and personality and was the perfect contrast to the rest of the band's flamboyance and debauchery. He kept the ship on course.

For awhile, I was really content with my last show being a Charlie show (MetLife 2 2019). It was a fantastic show and seeing Charlie on top of his game at age 78 was exactly the kind of coda to the band's legacy I wanted to see. I've come around to Steve, and I doubt Charlie would still be touring at this point if he were still part of this earthly domain, but nothing beats Charlie behind the kit.

Here's my blog post in the wake of Charlie's passing: [nastithoughts.blog]

Spot on! There is an element of swing he brought to the Stones sound that was uniquely Charlie Watts. Doesn't seem the same without Charlie around these last few years. A toast and happy birthday to the coolest guy that ever sat behind a drum kit!

Still missing Charlie's swing and style. Grateful for many years of his elegant talent.

I met and shook Charlie's hand 4 times.
Paris 06
Paris 07,
Gothenburg 07(where I introduced my drummer Jocke to Charlie, Charlie this is Joakim, my drummer, Jocke, this is Charlie Watts!!)
And finally Copenhagen 07 where Charlie signed his setlist from Parken the night before which I managed to get immediately after the show.
It's on YouTube, "Charlie d'anglettere", I'm the geezer with the yellow tibetan prayer flag a la Keef who is first in line.

Now, Charlie signs his setlist for me, get it home and just hibernating after Oslo and London and thinking what a great show it was.

Sitting with it the other day and realizes that he signed a setlist with Dead Flowers and Ruby Tuesday on it! Only one other show with those two since 1989!

Charlie left us on a Tuesday! DEAD Flowers.
Ruby TUESDAY.

I miss you Charlie.

Live Forever
