Hey yeah there was a great three-part interview
on Roger Steffen's site where Keith spoke about
Wingless Angel stuff ... How he and Mick would
visit some of London ska clubs in 60's and how
he first saw the Harder They Come in Kingston theatre and
during film rasta boys where aiming pistols at the screen ....HHHhaaaa
Somebody might be able ta track Steffen interview it down ....

The interview was on some special deluxe release of something or other, I forget exactly, maybe the Wingless Angels set. I was at Rojah's house one day and he offered to let me watch it but I did not have the time so instead he just summarized his day with Keef for me. It was an interesting day from what he said what with Jane Rose coming first to check the place out before she gave the ok for His Keefness to enter the premises. Wanted to make sure there were no hangers-on (such as myself) in the area.
That bit about rudies shooting up the spaghetti western movie screens is a well known, often told story. I wonder just how much of Keefs first hand experience was actually just a distillation of all the stories anyone deep into reggae would have heard over and over. I certainly know I heard those stories on my first visit to the island and was actually taken to a theatre it was commonplace in in Kingston and also in Mandeville.
I also forgot about that Lee and Molly track, that does have some pretty distinctive keef riffing on it.

That is so not true. But I refrain from arguing about it.

Long long time ago but I'm sure that the
Roger Steffens/Keith interview that I'm
referring to was a phone interview and now
thinking about it more it may have been available
on Keith's official site when it first cranked up .....
