What a surprise ! Couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw that email title, hehe...their collaboration on SNL in 2012 gave us the best live version of IORR ever so that was off to a good start.
It's also a good way for Mick to "fix" the problem of going out "alone", a bit like what he did with Dave Stewart a couple of times, but Grohl's got a lot more street cred. He could easily have played all the instruments himself and I'd be surprised if the demo sounded very different.
So yeah, it's interesting that we went into lockdown with LIAGT/Stones (with a Mick song mind you) and coming out (or at least seeing the end of it) with ES/Mick, Dave and Matt (producer, maybe co-writer ?)...I'd be surprised if Keith wasn't given the opportunity to play on it but he probably dragged his feet since it wasn't his idea (like releasing LIAGT) and that was it.
Anyway what's not to like about that song that rocks and whirs with a melodic chorus ?! Listening with headphones you hear some weird "ahs" here and there, thought it was someone shouting in the street, guess it's Grohl being overdubbed on there !
