The deluxe box looks promising if it is true. I am really curious what will be on the bonus cd and if the extra Tokyo dvd is the one which is only is already released in Japan as bonus or will it be a different one?
And I think the deluxe will look like the same format as the deluxe boxset of Havana Moon and the Totally Stripped boxset

Surely this gets pushed back because of the GHS Reissue 9/4 release date

Don't think so. Multiple releases in a short Period have been quite common over the last decade.

Anyway A CITY is a MUST. John Lee Hooker + Clapton and Stones on the same stage, wow at the time.
JLH with 2 strings provide a great tempo.
KR riffs are excellent and the final Clapton solo amazing.

Any update on when this will be released - or available for pre-order? I'm surprised we cant yet pre-order it....

Mind you, after the very expensive outlay on multiple GHS formats - a wee wait is not a bad thing.

However successful the pay-per-view sales are — and that success must be seen in relation to a medium that has yet to fully establish its viability — tickets for the concert could still be had at show time, and scalpers were offering $40 ducats for $30. Ticket prices for the three Atlantic City shows ranged from $40 to $250.

Trump sponsored the shows, not at all to the liking of the Stones. Michael Cohl did the deal and apparently the only way things would work was if Trump was barred from being there.

Trump does not own the rights or anything of the show. He had nothing to do with the Convention Center. Don't know why people keep saying it, although I can't remember where I've seen it said.

Very true. We had seats upstairs and mangaged to score 3rd row seats right before the show for $30. The whole front section of seats in front of the stage was empty until about the 3rd song. I remember no one was willing to pay $250 for tickets back then.

HA HA! Now $250 is practically free!

The most I ever paid was $210. It was at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim. I had first row mezzanine near the side of the stage. It was magnificent. My favorite Stones concert, 1999. Since then I've been judicious, buying tickets at face value, no fees, at the venue the night of. Had fantastic tickets that way. I would never pay more than a $100 now. I'm seeing a poorer quality event for more money? No thanks.

Both? They played three Atlantic city shows in 1989.

I don't think the Atlantic City shows were any better than other 89, or 90, shows. The difference is the guest artists and amount of songs. I remember that there was a very good bootleg
released from the show called "The Black Box" (I think). Which was a 3-lp set. Quite expensive I remember. Bootlegs were expensive then. I never manged to get hold of it at the time.

Judging from the shows I've heard, I'd say the AC-show is the best. And the guest songs were among the poorest of the show.

I'll contribute this about why I think ATLANTIC CITY is the best show from the STEEL WHEELS tour:

I saw the the second show of 2 in Pontiac, Michigan; it was slightly entertaining standing in line, maybe 11 or so people back from the window, and the first show sold out in what seemed like 5 minutes and nobody moved. It was an excellent show - it really blew my mind. I had seen LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER and was able to get an idea of what a stadium show looked like from that... but actually being at one was better, of course, and the industrial cityscape was jaw dropping - I walked across the floor and it felt like some captain had taken a west turn off Lake St Clair and drove the oil tanker right into the Silverdome and parked it.

To my pleasant surprise, the sound was incredible. Could hear Mick whisper during Midnight Rambler.

I have SEVENTH OF JULY, which is pretty good, and LIVE AT THE TOKYO DOME, which is OK, and have listened to various live videos over the years and I think, mostly based on, unfortunately, Ronnie Wood's performances (playing), he was the weak link for how a show would sound.

ATLANTIC CITY (show 2 of 3) he's awesome. His playing on Start Me Up sets the tone for the show. It's as if someone was able to program him with all the best licks he'd ever done and said 'Tonight, you will play the best of the best only better' and that's what he did. His fills are awesome, his solo is awesome, his melody line placement is awesome, his solo during Miss You was probably the best one he ever had. Etc etc and etc.

The other part of it is it seems the band, overall, is truly firing 100%. Maybe it's because it was the second to last show of the tour and they were excited to have a break so the playing got better. Maybe because it was show number 58 out of 59 or whatever it was.

No matter what RAAHP and Can't Be Seen and Little Red Rooster are terrible and UOTN is underwhelming, in general, and Bitch was too fast... but overall the show was excellent.

I don't know how true this is, but didn't John Lee Hooker enjoy the backstage booze a little too much ?

I looked at my ticket stub. It was dec 17th. The one in 2006 my wife and I had to go back a few weeks later because Mick was I’ll. Wow what a show!
