That tour was my first Stones show and I don't think I had seen much video of them since the Ed Sullivan shows ten years earlier when I was just a kid. Those photos really bring back the memories of my first impressions of Keith - head down, introverted, totally into his guitar and playing. No posing, no squatting, no kicks - just playing, but also little to no interaction with the audience. I always thought it might have been because he was trying to kick the habit while 'out on bail'.

God those shots of Keith in the orange shirt are cool! The one with the cig in his mouth, and, the one sssouls calls one of her all-time favs. Photogenic mofos is right. Funky But Chic (good song too)

I ain't stupid, I'm just guitarded.

bravo filstan!
great photo, thank you!
but in case you wanted it a little smaller ...
you can go back to photobucket, hit the "edit" button" above the picture
and reduce the size - don't reduce it *too* much, though!
it's beautiful. where did you take it?

I didn't take that one but a very good friend did the shots with a telephoto at the first gig they did at Chicago Stadium 1975. He was located stage right(of course) and he gave me the originals of 2 great shots. I will post the other one in a minute. Thanks for the tips. This is cool.

was this the july 23rd show or the july 24th one?
and would your friend mind if you told us his name?
i always dearly love to know who the photographers are, if at all possible.

It was the first show in Chicago on the 23rd I believe. The photographer was John Corcoran who now lives in Indiana. He was kind to give these to my wife and I as a wedding present back in 1985. This shot is way cool. It was taken during the opening number HTW. Note the smoke and JD bottle on the speaker as well as the carpet design on the stage. Nice shot.

Actually, I think the butt and bottle appear to be on the Hammond and not a speaker. Anyone remember the stage configuration in 75?

and thank you Filstan ~ thank you John Corcoran!

Man those are some great photos yopu guys are putting up. Yes sssoul your picture of Keith is beautiful.

Re: 78 tour photos

I think that those photos I put up reveal Keith as what he he was in those days and what he could be if he wanted to be right now. Mr rock and roll. When Keith took center stage it used to be a huge highlight. I think he needs to get it back in that direction, not that his current numbers are lacking in musical quality. Keiths pedigry is rock n roll and he needs to get back to the basics with at least one number when they are out on tour. Infamy though has a lovely groove live.

To Mack Jigger:

I took those two, they ARE from Rich Stadium, Buffalo, NY on July 4, 1978

I notice that back on the first page of this thread, one of my shots from Chicago, on July 8, 1978, from Soldier's Field was also used.

I have a few from Cleveland as well.

I'll find them and post them....
