Just listened to "Happiness Bastards" the other day and I realized I really love that album ! Sure it doesn't (try to) break new ground but it just plain rocks with a lot of roll with some terrific riffs and guitar playing, the kind of album the Stones could have made if Keith hadn't "collapsed" after Exile and kept on leading the band. Sure the Stones wouldn't have grown like they did but that's not the point ;-)

Unexpectedly the Black Crowes finally recaptured the "Southern Harmony" and particularly "Remedy" magic. Hell did freeze over ;-)

"Happiness Bastards" has great moments on it; it is a very good rockandroll record. I believe that the songs on "before the frost" were better and the recording live at the Levon Helm's barn , played live for the first time, was a daring project that delivered the goods 110%.

Before the Frost, in vinyl format, is one of THE greatest albums of all-time, by anyone. It's easily in my Top 10 all-time, high on the back 5 portion.

HB is very welcomed return to form. It's the kind of triumphant return I wish another certain band had attained. I listen to HB still multiple times a week. Never gets old, any of it. Kindred Friend is yet another stellar Crowes classic.

Speaking of a triumphant return! Welcome back VL13! I know Rich Robinson’s former guitar tech, now Chris Stapelton’s guitar tech. Cool guy. Saw him at one of the Bob Dylan shows at Brooklyn Bowl Nashville recently. Jack White and Jason Isbell were there too. It was cool to hear some behind the scenes Black Crowes stuff.

LOL. Thanks NashvilleBlues. Wouldn’t say I’m back. Just commenting on a BC thread of interest. Haven’t paid IORR much thought of late, and don’t think I’ll ever make a legitimate return. Might pop in now and again, but the old atmosphere is long gone, to me. And life is far too short with too many other pressing things to take a beating here over one’s opinion of a disappointing release. This place has become too much like our country, I’m afraid. I’d wanted so badly to come and tell all about my Foxboro show experience in the Pit Ronnie side, but didn’t bother.

I do miss some folks. Appreciate the kind words and wishing you a joyous holiday season!!! Stapleton’s got a lot of great tunes!!! Take care of yourself Nashville!

I've listened to it just a few times. It's good. Nothing like BEFORE THE FROST, which is their best album ever (yes indeed, VoodooLounge13). SOUTHERN HARMONY being second.

Whatever. Perhaps after multiple listenings between now (12-6-2024) and, oh, June of 2025 - I'll reassess.

As usual there's a lot of other music to listen to. Teskey Brothers are supreme. Teddy Swims is awesome. Digging Sabrina. Looking forward to new Snoop/Dre. And loads of others.

Perhaps there's too much.

A lot to listen to. So much new music released every day.
