Somebody else was already posting about it.
Now I get it, this thing must be the "starbucks" CD that was also posted about.

>> from Billboard, July 29th, 2005:

"In November, EMI will release a Stones rarities disc featuring B-sides and songs from albums that have gone in and out of print. The collection will be sold through traditional retail and Starbucks.

The japanese release date agrees with the starbucks release date.
The japanese price indicates that it might be a CD+DVD or even a 2CD

I'm going to HMV this week and ask them what the CD is all about.

The page mentions "Let it Rock". This would be great because it's not on any other cd that I know about. I hope it includes "Think I'm going mad" and Through the lonely nights".

@Doug O

That's a readers' comment on this release. He calls himself "Let it rock" and he says
the release is no good. A track list is not available.

This just in from a friend of mine, whose sister works at Virgin in New York.

She said, Disc 1 is going to be previously released tracks from 1989 forward and Disc 2 is going to contain previously released and unreleased tracks from 1971 to 1989. Here's the track listing for Disc 1.

Don't Stop
I'm Gonna Drive
Stealing My Heart
Jump on Top of Me
Keys to Your Heart
Anyway You Look At It
Losing My Touch
I Wish I'd Never Met You
The Storm
Fancy Man Blues
Cook Cook Blues
So Young
Highwire
Sex Drive

According to her, Disc 2 had a TBC next to it. She also reports that this is a domestic release, and it coincides with the Japanese release date.

Let's hope this is true.

Keys to Your Love, rather - thanks, wtravis6565, that sounds promising.

I would imagine Through the Lonely Nights, Think I'm Going Mad, and Everything's Turning to Gold will be on Disc 2.

Re: New release: "Rarities 1971-2003" listed on HMV Japan

If this album will ever see the light of day on one album, this should be the tracks (assuming there won't be any previously unreleased stuff, no remixes, only tracks never released on an album before and that there is a God-given limitation of 14 tracks):

opening track: Let it rock [live 1970]
Through the lonely night
Run Rudolph run [Keith, Stu, Mike Driscoll]
The harder they come [Keith, Ronnie, Charlie]
I think I'm going mad
I'm gonna drive
Jump on top of me
Anyway you look at it
Wish I'd never met you
The storm
So young
Fancy man blues
Cook cook blues
last track: Key to the highway [full version by Ian Stewart]

I don't think the four tracks from FORTY LICKS will or should be on it. This would be quite cheek. The same goes for the FLASHPOINT tracks. These album sold bigtime, so these songs ain't really "rarities". Also there shouldn't be any remixes.

Ah, a new Stones album to get excited about. Unless they mean "rare" as in "not well done", in which case I suspect it'll be a repackaging of ABB to con me into buying another copy.

If it's the songlist from wtravis' friend, well I think the band has let me down. I don't want re-released songs that I have and never listen to. It would be worse than buying Sucking in the 70's, or Jump Back. Oh God, let's get out of this Virgin contract and move on!

We know there are so many more gems in the vaults. Maybe they'll start dwindling out after this tour...

Where can I find the above mentioned

1) "Key to the highway (full version by Ian Stewart)" and the

2) "Let it rock" live version from 1970?

Hmmmm well not quiet sure what the good Captain is referring to with Key To The Highway ( Full version by Ian Stewart) but with Let It Rock I take it he means the official release which is from Leeds March 13 1971 and is available on:

7"EP B-side of Brown Sugar - UK release
7"single Let It Rock/Blow With Ry Germany

LP Sticky Fingers stereo - Spanish Release

Thanks Rockman!

Anyone knows about the other by "F.U.C. the Captain" mentioned track:

"Key to the highway" (full version by Ian Stewart)?

Travis

If disc one is unreleased material from 1989 to date why does the track list have all previously released songs?

"Key to the highway" full version by Ian Stewart:

Maybe he meant just the only-piano-version at the end of "Dirty Work" in full length?

Does somebody know, if it's on a boot somewhere?

Since I expect the "rarities" to be just B sides and previously released stuff I'd finally like to get the complete version of the song that the Stones put at the very end of DIRTY WORK. It is a piano track played by Ian Stewart - it sounds like "Key to the highway" (some think it is "Trouble in mind"). I always thought it was very unfair to Stu - not even when he was dead they recognized him for what he were. I thought they should have left out "Back to zero" or "Hold back" or anything but give Stu a decent goodbye by including the full song. Maybe it will happen one day?

I didn't save the HMV page but I now get the impression that something has changed. The price has dropped and the CD number has changed as well.

"Rarities 1971-2003"? Forty Licks was released in 2002. So what does 2003 indicate? Recordings from the Licks tour?

Nobody has yet mentioned live versions of Undercover, Play with Fire or I Just Wanna Make Love to You.

Yeah, I agree. Further an adequate honor would be the realization of the two discs of the boot "Jamming with Stu" which contains fantastic blues jams of the band and characterizes the contributions Ian Stewarts as well.

I guess "Lonely at the Top" wouldn't be under consideration for the 71-89 disc becuase it was a Jagger release (although in very altered form)?

I have it on boots, probably like the rest of you, but man, what a gem that never made it out. A little remastering on that one and it's a rocker for the ages.

Doug O...totally agree with "through the lonely nights"...for the stones fans who like their spin on country music...this ranks up their with dead flowers and far away eyes.....can't believe they didn't put it on "its only rocknroll"....and imagine if they pulled it out of their live bag o tricks!

never really thought of Lonely Nights as a country song, frankly....
